Biography of Tube Tech

In 2003, when the techno hit 'The End' was all the rage in clubs across Germany/Europe, most people assumed that TUBE TECH had actually sampled the vocals as well as the typical 'Doors' guitar sound; contrary to what you may think, TUBE TECH is not your everyday techno project, nor a simple 'one man studio production', but a full-fledged band.

There are usually four people mixing sounds at the studio while just three of them perform on stage which is largely due to the fact that sound technician and musician Eric Sneo spends a lot of time preparing instrumental as well as vocal sections. Band members include singer DENTON, guitarrist MUNO and UDO, who manages the electronic sound system'. Even after the follow-up single 'Riders on the storm', some producers may not have noticed that this is not Jim Morrison's voice, as only a die-hard 'Doors'-fan are able to tell the difference.

With regard to media exposure, viewers of German music channel VIVA were able to watch the video clip of 'The End' on very few occasions, while MTV went as far as banning it due to the station's policy which forbids the promotion of material considered 'apocalyptic' - well ... it seems obvious that black street gangs or babes with big boobs are far more profitable in this business.

UDO and MUNO have been producing songs since 1993; among others, 'Razzia' was a classic tune they composed before managing the famous Techno Club PALAZZO which they transformed into one of the most renowned European venues. Up to 4,000 party-goers used to invade the club each weekend, leaving the two musicians with little time to actively produce their music; due to these time constraints, they decided to sell the club in 2003 and hooked up with PALAZZO resident DJ Sneo which eventually led to the founding of the band TUBE TECH.

The first song the band produced was meant to be a kind of 'farewell anthem' in regards to the above mentioned club; it goes without saying that the classic 'Doors' tune 'The End' was the ideal choice ! The only problem was the simple fact that the band did not have a lead singer. Thus, they launched a pan-european talent search and eventually found the best Doors cover singer, Alex DENTON, who happened to reside only about 60 miles away from the band's studio located in the city of Mainz ! In all respects, one must say that DENTON's voice was and still is as unique as Jim Morrison's.
Now, the band was finally ready to go, however, final permission from the real Doors band members had to be obtained first as re-recording the title had been prohibited. TUBE TECH was indeed the first and only band in 30 years to get the green light [from the USA] for the production of a cover version! MUNO grew up listening to 60s music, he also developed a taste for the techno movement in its early stages; naturally, he sought to combine these two very different musical styles while trying to create enthusiasm for this musical adventure amongst the other band members. Considering that 70s, 80s and 90s music covers are fairly common, one must admit that classic rock vocals and electronic guitar sounds merged with modern techno elements may be a great challenge and, needless to say, a tough act to follow for most producers and musicians.

Thus, the band members do not really mind being described as a 'pure cover band' by ignorant critics - they stand by their somewhat weird musical tastes; the fact that they released their music in more than 25 countries says more than a words about the band's success.
