Biography of Subzero

As far back as i can remember, ive always been making weird noises. From the back of the classroom i had a whole arsenal of noises and silly comments which frequently led to me being kicked out of lessons, only to practise and perfect those noises. Suddenly the synthesiser appeared in my music lessons. This machine was making the same noises as me! I was immediatly hooked and this developed into an unhealthy interest in acid. In particular the Roland 303 and those tweaky noises you got on tunes like Josh Winks Higher State of Consiousness. Mixed with a Hip Hop background (Ie A Big 3D superwoofer, a backwards hat, a Public Enemy tape and some angry shoppers.) It wasnt long before drum n bass and breakbeat caught my attention with its hard breaks and electro sound. I began fiddling with records and accidentally stumbled upon the whole DJ mix thing when i had two copys of Altern8s 'Armaggeddon' playing at once. I thought id invented mixing till a mate done me some Obbsession and Fantasia tapes. This opened up a whole world of djing to me so i ditched the old amstrad record players with 'finger operated speed control' and got some sound labs. Bless em. They were hardly technics but allowed me to practise and refine my sound. I spent a few years playing stuff from Good Looking Records to me mates....'you should hear him, he`s like Bukem!' After a spell of playing mellow drum n bass in my front room i got sick of the lack of enegy and decided to play some breakbeat.I felt more comfertable playing it and crowd reaction was loads better but i will always remember My Drum and Bass sets with fond memories. Who could possibly forget P.F.M.s One and Only? After getting a PC last year, i decided to start experimenting with programs like Reason and Cubase. Im now able to do stuff i had only dreamed about. After struggling to make stuff on Music 2000 on the ps one i am trully spoiled! The results of this musical journey will pop up on this page as they are born. Im still learning the whole polish and engineering bit so they may sound a bit manky. Just think of them as musical sketches. Then gloss over them. And remember....'Music is a mission, not a competition!' Peace. Over and out. 'Zzzt!'
