Biography of Alistair Albrecht
The culture of the ubiquitous DJ means it can sometimes be hard to sift the wheat from the chaff. With DJS taking door deals to secure slots at their favourite club or playing for free just to get a foot in the disco door, it is refreshing to see a guy with a deeper respect for his own talent. By sticking to his guns and not pimping his skills to every promoter in town, Alistair Albrecht & Funky4love are starting to acquire genuine plaudits from those who hang around to hear the proof in his delectable musical pudding.
Driven by his desire to DJ, and a need to be heard and a few long nights of train-spotting wrongness led, to the beginning of one of the most exciting promotions seen for a long time.
Disillusioned by the tight knit club scene he devised a strategy to get himself heard by taking control of his own DJ destiny and creating FUNKY4LOVE; a night he could start from scratch and build around his own sound.
He kicked off with his first party @ Turnmills friends and likeminded party animals turned up in their droves to support them. Encouraged by the overwhelming response he decided this was the road he was destined to tread; and he hasn't looked back since.
The parties continued and the people kept coming. Funky4Love soon had a regular crowd that travelled wherever F4L went. But what set him apart from most promoters was his professional approach, exceptional vision and pure determination. With such qualities it wasn’t long before he was spotted by some of London’s key promoters. Keen to learn his trade he was soon nestling under the wings of promoters such as Pukka Up, Alist & Dirty. But he very quickly outgrew their nest and began to stretch those musical wings and attract the attention of some of the industry’s biggest players… namely PACHA… the Mecca of house.
After two roadblock parties at the Victoria venue Funky4Love were offered a Friday night residency in November 05 and have continued to dazzle with innovative themes, upfront music and a stunning crowd. As probably the most successful Friday night promoter at Pacha, Alistair Albrecht was soon granted the coveted gig as exclusive Smoke residents and now oversee the music policy each and every week.
With his star still very much in ascendance he has started honing their studio skills and their first track ‘It’s Playtime’ has already received support from top jocks across the land including two spins on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection and now forming a new partnership with good friend Wayne O'Connell from the Soul Avengerz, they have been signed to Gut Records under their new recording name 'Made In London', fine credentials for a lad still in the springtime of his career!
If you’re looking for no nonsense house that’s sexy enough for the girls and dirty enough for the boys with an added touch of party magic then Alistair & Funky4love should be firmly on your ‘do to’ list in 2007!
