Biography of Bill Patrick

Being asked to hold a residency at your favorite club is a dream come true for any DJ. But when it's alongside two of the best in the world, Danny Tenaglia and Danny Howells, there are no words to describe the feeling. So it is for Bill Patrick, with only five years behind the decks, this 26 year old holds one of the most impressive residencies in the world...

Coming from a diverse musical background that included punk, hardcore, old school hip hop, new wave, and reggae, Bill's love for dance music began in 1998. He frequented the legendary club Twilo almost every Friday until its closing in 2001. In a short time he has played at some of the best clubs in New York, and in cities all across America. To label his sound with one word would be a sin. Deep, dubby, techy, percussive, sexy, soulful, REFRESHING. Simply put: He spins quality dance music.

When you look at some of the bands and musicians that could be heard (loudly) from Bill's bedroom while growing up, the word 'diversity' automatically comes to mind. Artists such as: De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Eric B and Rakim, Quicksand, Faith No More, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Minor Threat, Nirvana, Peter Tosh, Bad Brains, Prince, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Take that extensive background along with a number of DJ influences and you are promised to get a creative and diverse range of music out of Bill's sets. 'I try to incorporate many different sounds into a night. I get bored with one sound very easily and am always looking to incorporate something new...'

In February 2002, Bill was featured on Danny Howells' website as the guest DJ of the month. Last year he joined forces with Gatecrasher, holding a monthly residency for the British superclub's summer events in New York. His international travels have taken him to Mexico City, Costa Rica, Buenos Aires, Spain and on to Chile. Most recently in Argentina, Bill played once again for Camel Genuine Sounds under a massive tent in Mar Del Plata. He headlined this 3000 person event playing alongside living legend Ricardo Villalobos and Tobi Neumann.

Bill's just landed yet another US residency, this time at club Fluid in Philadelphia with the 112 Crew. 112 Crew started 3 years ago, when Bill and his DJ mates, Tom Amoroso, Dennis Rodgers, and Matt Licata were spinning at after-hours parties from Twilo. The 112 Crew's own brand of minimal dubbed out techno has caught on like wildfire, affording Bill the opportunity to turn out an amazing landscape of different sounds and moods ranging from the most minimal of house and techno, dub, electro, breaks and always a few other surprises, all brought together in one set.

The Miami Winter Music Conference in March 2003 found Bill with a full plate of tasty gigs! Some highlights included, the sunrise set on the Terrace of the new Space following Mauro Picotto and Marco Carola, Ultrafest 2003 and Sublime at Maze with the 112 Crew versus Casa Del Soul.

In April 2003, he headed over the pond for his first European tour. While making marks in cities throughout Norway, Finland, and England, Bill not only came away with successful gigs but interest brewing from some of the biggest and most respected clubs in Europe...watch this space.

One of the biggest highlights to date in Bill's short career happened this summer in Ibiza. He landed three dream gigs on the White Isle, including a main-floor slot at the legendary We Love...party at Space, and a fist pumping performance at the soon-to-be legendary, Circo Loco party at DC-10!

Bill Patrick's love and dedication for the music have been the driving forces behind his rapid success. In a very short time, he has managed to position himself as one of the most exciting new DJ's to arrive on the international dance circuit!
