Biography of DJ Masaya

Born in Santiago, Chile, Claudia aka Masaya’s cradle was rocked to the rhythms of southern American beats. At the age of 2 her parents moved to Switzerland and while growing up, her natural ear for music led her towards the groovy sounds of funk, salsa and house music.

On discovering world renowned djs such as Laurent Garnier, Pascal Feos and Danny Tenaglia, electronic music opened a new world to her. Turntables finally caught her attention and in 2002 she put her energy into mixing, at first Electro Tech House. This rendered wonderful results, such as being chosen by Paul Okenfold as the winner of the Heineken Found@Thirst Contest Challenge in 2003 at the D! Club in Lausanne in front of an amazed audience.

She won a residency at the D! Club (the biggest club in Lausanne) and this became the first in a long line of future residencies that opened up to her such as the To See Club in Fribourg, as warm up dj on the Radio Rouge FM “Platine Rouge”, and during her 6 month stay in Chile with Tony Mass, became resident at one of the best clubs in Santiago, La Feria and La Salita.

Having played in most of the clubs in Lausanne such as the Cult, La Ruche, MAD, Le Cercle and the Loft, it was not long before Masaya’s music spread to clubs and festivals in other cities and even other countries such as the Q-Club in Zurich and the Piping Club in Geneva, Caprice Festival in Crans-Montana in 2005 and even the very first Love Parade in Santiago de Chile in 2005 & 2006 and the Cordobas Festival in Argentina 2006.

In 2005 Masaya started producing her own sounds, encouraged by family and friends such as Juan Baeza and Ripperton, she has finally been able to produce her own music where one can feel her natural blending of the echoes from her South American roots.
