Biography of Funkmaster Flex

Funkmaster Flex sets trends. His name is known around the world and for more than a decade now, Funkmaster Flex has reigned as America's No. 1 radio personality, reaching more than 2 million listeners a week. When he's on the air, an estimated 10% of everybody tuned into a radio in the metropolitan New York area is listening to him

Funkmaster Flex has developed his own mini-empire of car-customizing television programming. Flex first experienced television success with the runaway success of his SPIKE TV show, 'Ride with Flex.' Flex now reigns supreme on ESPN with his television show 'All Muscle with Funkmaster Flex'. In his show Flex can be seen interviewing and customizing the cars of leading sports celebrities from the NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball and the world of Hip-Hop. Besides being apart of his own television shows Flex has appeared on the Video Game Awards as co-producer and musical supervisor, co-host of Autorox, the first-ever nationally televised Auto Awards Show, American Choppers, Overhaulin', and Car Crazy TV.

Funkmaster Flex has also been seen as a guest on MTV's TRL, Direct Effect, MTV 2's Sucka Free Sunday, Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central, The View, and VH1's 'The Fabulous Life of...' Funkmaster Flex has created a successful stream of compelling television programming with himself as the host as well as other programming with Flex working behind-the-scenes alongside long-time partner RedMoxie Productions. The powerhouse RedMoxie team was responsible for parlaying the success of the television show 'Ride with Funkmaster Flex' internationally. The show is now seen in seven other countries including the U.K., Italy, Germany, New Zealand and Australia.

Funkmaster Flex's love affair with automobiles is no on-air gimmick. He is a true custom car fanatic—so much so, The New York Times recently dubbed him the 'evangelist of hip hop car culture.' He founded Team Baurtwell, the highest profile custom-car club around with members like Shaquille O'Neil, musicians Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Mariah Carey, NASCAR Drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Danica Patrick, and professional baseball players Jason Giambi and Manny Ramirez. Flex is the consultant to the hottest car accessory companies, consulting them on a host of issues, especially product placement and future advertising. This knowledge has led to numerous endorsement deals from some of the biggest companies in the game. Flex currently has a marketing deals with the Ford Motor Company and with Castrol Consumer North America, which is counting on Flex's taste-making appeal with 'a new audience of young people' to represent its Syntec brand of motor oil.

In recent years, Flex has become the one-stop source for the latest and greatest in the world of customizing. When chart-topping artists like 50 Cent, Ludacris, Queen Latifah, P. Diddy, and Chris Brown need advice on the latest trends in automotive customizing, they need make only one phone call—to their man, Funk Flex. As if that wasn't enough, Flex leads one of the industry's largest and most effective street marketing powerhouses—Franchise Marketing.

Funkmaster Flex is single-handedly reinventing American car culture for the new urban audience. Not only does Flex represent his own line of hi-octane automotive accessories, but he also developed and promotes an annual eight-city Funkmaster Flex Custom Car & Bike Show Tour, bringing the most exclusive and expensive candy-colored rides to fans in cities as far-flung as Canada, Miami, Atlanta, and Atlantic City.

The Tour also showcases the premiere show for sneaker enthusiasts and the Street Wear Culture, 'The International Sneaker Battle.' The Battle brings together sneaker enthusiasts and everyone involved in the culture of hip-hop, graffiti, djing, sneakers, clothing, art, and overall fashion. It showcases the collection of sneaker enthusiasts from all over the Globe, who will compete for cash and prizes. The collections will cover all independent and major footwear brands. Stay tuned for some crazy collaborations (JB Classics / New Era Fitted Hats / Nike-Air Force 1/ Adidas...) with Flex and the Sneaker/Street Wear Community.

The bottom line is this: Funkmaster Flex has an enormous presence with today's most desirable target audience. When he plays a record, it becomes a hit. When he sponsors an event, it sets attendance records. When he markets a product...people buy it. Flex is known, respected, but most importantly—he is trusted.

Comment: You can never really go wrong with funkflex. I love that 90's style, so if you do to cop this now. Also anyone not really into hip hop might wanna listen, a little easier listening then some rap out there, good to chill too.

Comment: This mix is classic Funk Master Flex. Maybe a little too much talking on the mic for my taste but that is what you get with Flex. As far as the musical selection... "don't get it twisted," Flex says, this is not Hammer and Young MC." I've listened to Part 1 a few times now and I'll be downloading Parts 2 and 3 shortly.

Comment: i used to live in new york. all funk master flex mixes get me pumped. flex came in and you knew it was the week end starting. having to play the radio edit to the tracks is slightly annoying, but acceptable. the shout outs cool.

Comment: If you download this mix get ready for a bunch of talking. This was broadcast on hot 97 the radio station. This is exactly what i hoped wouldnt happen when i downloaded this. Phat 90's tracks with toooons of talking and BSing .If you dont mind listening to a New York DJ that talks alot of useless stuff then youll at least like the track selection. Reminds me of driving to brooklyn to grab some herbs.
