Biography of MC Ryme Tyme
Sean Martins aka Ryme Tyme has come to be known as a prolific mover of crowds and top-notch producer. His music career started with break dancing in Jamaica with his Smuggler’s crew, which also began his love for being an emcee. When he returned to London he was deep into the electro and hip hop scene. He was introduced to the rave scene in 1988, which led him to begin emceeing at parties. Shortly after he had his first booking at club Sterns in Worthing during the era of hardcore in 1990. He continued to spread his sound through weekly pirate radio shows: first, the renowned Touchdown FM owned by the DJ Tall Paul, then Don FM, and finely Kool FM. 1993 saw him travel to New York City with DJ Trace as one of the first UK acts to perform at the legendary NASA at Club Shelter.
His first release was “Fracture” on Saigon followed by “We Enter”, which received a remix by Optical. Since then, Ryme Tyme has gone on to establish 1210 Recordings as a label dedicated to the cutting edge vibes of dark funk. He has put out releases from Bad Company, Fierce, Ed Rush, Optical, Dj Trace,Cause4Concern, Bulletproof, Optiv, Crossfire, and of course himself. He has also released records on No U-Turn, Moving Shadow, C4C Ltd., Virus, as well as his debut LP on 1210.
Ryme Tyme travels the world with his constant touring schedule with yearly stops in Japan, Australia, North America and Europe. He has also performed in Russia, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and numerous other locations across the globe. Ryme Tyme has set his sites on solidifying 1210 Recordings and getting more tracks out. He is working on a new album and also has a Crossfire LP lined up along with remixes of the 1210 catalogue such as the DJ Optiv remix of “Fever” and Universal Project’s take on “Move VIP.” Also, expect new vocal tracks as Ryme Tyme has been working with other vocalists and some hip hop projects as well. All this and a 1210 Recordings website, more 1210 club nights, and a new label, Spawn Recordings which is dedicated to releasing new artists.
