Q: What kind of background in music do you have? If so, how does that background influence your current dj'ing?
A: I actually have no musical background. Tried to play the drums once and that really didn’t work out.
Q: How were you introduced to electronic/dance music?
A: New Years Eve 1999 @ 31st and Gillham. That’s where I met one of my true loves!
Q: How did you get started dj'ing? How long have you been behind the decks?
A: I am a self-taught dj of 6 years. Bought my first decks on Dec. 14th, 2000…strange that I remember that.
Q: What artists inspire you?
A: So many names come to mind with this one. Trevor Matthews has inspired me through it all and has shown nothing but love and support. RESPECT! More recent inspiration has come from Ion, Olivier Desmet, Heather, Colette, Masters At Work, DC and every KC area local rep’in our city right!
Q: How would you define your style and sound?
A: Deeply funkalicious! Sexy sounds for the soul baby, gettin’ deeper and deeper!
Q: Why do you like to dj? What is your fav part about being a dj?
A: I love the fact that I can play what I want and still make the heads move. There’s nothing more satisfying to look out at the madness on the floor and know that you caused it!
Q: What has been your favorite dj event you have attended, and why?
A: Easy! Operation Getdown. St. Louis-October-2000. Moonshine Over America Tour. Sick lineup, great vibe, outrageous attendance and lots and lots of basssss!!
Q: What has been your favorite dj event you have played at, and why?
A: Summer of ’03 back in St. Louis. Party was called Paradise. Played alongside Dmitry, Ron Carroll, Nigel Richards and Empress. Good music all night long, amazing vibe and they had a bar…ha!
Q: Answer this for me: Vinyl or Digital? What do you prefer?
A: Vinyl for life! Personally I will play vinyl for as long as it is available. There has been a massive growth in digital dj’ing, and in my opinion, that will continue for quite some time. Digital music is cheaper, easier to transport and might just be where we are all heading.
Q: What are your personal goals?
A: Professionally, to continue growth in my career, get married and who knows…kids?? Musically, to get my name more recognized in KC and play more so I can shake your ass!
