Biography of Eric Jerome

Eric W aka 'DJ Eric Jerome' was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent his youth in and around Long Island, Manhattan and Brooklyn either skateboarding with friends, playing bass & keyboards in various bands, working on artwork and going on graffiti writing missions. After friends of his (Billy Anfoflisi, Onionz & Jason Nevins) took up DJ'ing and started introducing him to house, dance and break beat records, the fire was lit! Eric found he could combine his own music with other artists. Taking bits and pieces of these grooves and embellishing them with his own style soon became his trademark. His style of mixing and production was right in sync with the sound in the clubs and on the streets at the time.

In '89 Eric started to attend SUNY Purchase in White Plains, NY. While living in the Bronx Eric met his two DJ roommates to be, Warren Katz aka 'DJ When Rock' and Jason Dirt. Many late nights of partying and practicing their House & Hip Hop DJ sets on each other led to club gigs and parties. So Dirt and Eric through all their relentless partying and networking eventually worked their up to be some of the top NYC night club promoters throwing some of the most successful parties ever to hit NYC. Eric soon became a regular spinning at such infamous NYC spots as The Tunnel, The Palladium, Limelight, Twilo and The Muse.

Then in late 1991 Dirt died in NYC of an heroin overdose (RIP-You're always with us bro) and many other friends were mixed up in too much partying. Eric had enough nightlife for awhile and decided to go back to college at University of Delaware and pursue a degree in family psychology. Eric spent 2 years in Delaware and continued to DJ, play and rap in bands at night in Philadelphia, Maryland and DC while attending classes during the day. In the fall of '93 Eric left Delaware to return to NYC to work on music full time. It was through his DJ'ing connections that he got his first taste of pure hip-hop production back in the winter of '93 when he teamed up with producer Andre Neal (Black Sheep, K-solo, Etc.) who gave him the chance to work on tracks and hone his skills as a producer and musician. This led to jobs for such prominent studios as Tiki Hut (Long Island) and Giant Recording (NYC). As an engineer Eric has had the opportunity to work with both live bands and MC's, which has helped him develop the varied style he is known for. It was while working at various studios that he decided to concentrate his efforts on pursuing a career as a Graphic Artist/Multimedia designer (he owns his own graphic design company, POTENT DESIGN LAB). All the while saving for a studio and working on distributing his solo music independently for the next few years (Eric Jerome is the owner and founder of NYTELYFE PRODUCTIONS - His own dance music production and publishing company).

Then in 1998 he relocated to Southern California and continued to hide in the lab for another 3 years making dance and Hip-Hop beats, putting down tracks with various artists in his home studio and continuing to pursue his dream of making it as a solo artist. While working on beats for the independent label, Keep It Crackin', Eric teamed up with MC's J-Trips and Doc Slimm to form 'Bonafyde Heavyweightz'. Together they produced and independantly released the 'Relentless' album in '04. Eric is currently pursuing a degree in multimedia production at Cal State Northridge and spinning clubs and parties when he can. Eric's list of influences ranges from 80's New Wave, Disco, Hip Hop, Funk and all forms of 'electronic music'; as Eric says 'diggin' in the crates is a religion.' Eric Jerome is currently in the studio finishing up his solo album debut of House, Electro and filtered Disco grooves to be released on his new label, NYTELYFE PRODUCTIONS in the Summer of 2007 with special club dates to follow, including East Coast, West Coast and European Tour dates.

Comment: I think the title to this mix is entirely appropriate. It is a dirty, sexy, Electro mix. Eric has chosen some great tracks for this mix. I had not heard the Supermassive Rainbow mashup before; I'm going to have to look for it! Some of the actual mixing is a little rough though, but only for a few seconds here and there.
