Biography of M2J

M2J began DJ’ing back in 1999, he soon started plying his trade at local events and house parties in the area. Due to his musical upbringing ( I used to share a room who are 4 and 7 yrs older than me respectively, hence being one of the only 8yr olds who used to listen to Drum and Bass and Hardcore back in 91) M2J always lent towards the darker side of music. It was his time at College that he then met Funky P and MC Remedy of Essentials fame, who soon had the young Disk Jockey spinning the black circles for the Essentials, This musical relationship continued 2 ½ years as M2J brought the pressure on such stations as WORLD DANCE RADIO.COM / SILK ROOMS 94.0fm and FLASHBACK 97.6fm. Also headlining events at Casers @ old Kent road, The Paradise Bar in Deptford, The Scene @ old Kent road, La FEZ @ New Cross. However all good things come to an end and M2J decided to cut his own path (The Essentials were now playing what we now know as out and out Grime and even though I was spinning my share of Eskibeat and Musical Mob productions, I was mainly playing tunes from the likes of El-B, Zed Bias, Zinc, Oris Jay, Chase and Status plus early Big apple productions from Benga, Artwork and all the crew @Tempa. It was from hear that M2J joined www.ukrumble.com where he has held down a Monday night show. Being the only Dubstep based DJ on the station all these years, M2J has brought the sound many new ears sending mix Cd’s to France, Hawaii (yes someone from a Hawaii University wanted one of my CD’s to play on there campus radio show) and Spain. It was also by 2003 that M2J was a regular in the crowd @ FWD, it’s hear that he began talking with and passing on his own productions to the likes of Plastcian, N-type, Walsh and Search and Destroy, this is also where in 2006 M2J got talking to a couple who where putting on there own Dubstep event @ the infamous Red Star in Camberwell (Most of you will probably know Letty and Unlikely). M2J began to spin tunes regularly @ the Redstar sessions and even played the opening night @ Platform 1. The Redstar sessions have led to many good things, from some Bookings abroad via the Unsound Sound system to his pending first release on Blackmass Plastics DIRTY NEEDLES imprint. This is where M2J’s Journey currently stands, with a brand new leg of the Journey about to start on SUBfm. PROPS: Ed Rush, Optical, Andy-C, Hype, Zinc, Cause For Concern, Geeneus, Slimzee, Wonder, J Da Flex, EL-B, Zed Bias, Oris Jay, Mc Carnegous , SLB, Alex, Catalyst, DJ Switch, N-Type, Chayo Alvar, Groove Chronicles, Wookie. RANDOM: M2J recently got stung with a £300 baggage charge by Ryan Air because his record boxes where to heavy (around 25k each and on Ryan Air your only aloud 15k per person). He got round this on the way home by claiming the Boxes where hand luggage which the Check in assistant excepted (Mug).
