Biography of AK Steppa

DJ Steppa Style, DJ Delirious aka Tim Kast was born and raised in Surf City, USA, Huntington Beach, California. Tim has always had an interest in music. Growing up listening to bands like the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Devo, Nirvana, Man? Or Astro Man? and everything in between. All of which are represented in his style today. Tim knew he had to get more involved with the music. So, getting his first set of drums at the age of 12 he quickly found others who shared his love for music, and Tim and the Kidney’s where born. Promoting themselves in Cafes and coffee shops Tim and the Kidney’s started to get a name in the local garage rock scene. But when high school came along Tim and the Kidney’s drifted away from each other. Then it was back in the summer of ‘95, that Tim was taken to his first rave by some of his friend’s older brothers. Immediately he became hooked on this new music. It was after, about my third party, that I decided I wanted to do what that guy was doing behind the decks, Tim recalls. Right away I began buying records for every type of dance music, getting my feet wet in all of them. But still he had not really been exposed to jungle yet. Until he saw the man himself, R.A.W., spin a ragga jungle set at an underground where house party in L.A. Then Tim knew what his calling was. Something with jungle just clicked inside my head. I just understood it For the next year Tim locked himself in his room and taught himself how to spin. He would go to parties, just standing there the whole time in front of the DJ watching everything he/she would do. Then Tim would go home and try it himself. After a year of not being heard of by any of his friends, Tim emerges from the bedroom with a mix tape that he was so proud of, that he had to share it with everyone he knew. This was also the time that he was known as Dj Delirious. Right away all of his friends knew that Tim had the potential to be a star DJ. But he was always reluctant to promote himself. I am fine with just spinning at underground and house parties. About this time Tim was also discovering he had a knack to gourmet cooking and soon started going down that road. Never giving up spinning in his bedroom or making mixes for his friends, Tim Started working in restaurants as a chef. He soon found that this was going to be his career calling. So after he graduated high school in ‘99 he moved up to San Francisco to get a job working for a private Cruise Company traveling all around the world. Also during this time Tim was going to clubs in all the cities he visited making friends to meet with on the return voyages. He was also making guest DJ appearances in clubs in the UK, France, Austria, Toronto, New York, SF. About this time Tim decided he was going to use a different name for his Drum and Bass and a different name for his techno. Tim decided to keep Delirious for his techno outlet and thought up the name Steppa Style after a sample in an old school record of his. This track soon became his theme song. Now moving back to his home town in Southern California to start his own personal chef business, Tim has decided it is time for the whole world to enjoy his love for the music and his talents behind the decks. Not being in this for the money or fame Tim offers all of his sets for free. So book now for the best DJ you will ever hear. Recently, Steppa Style has relased his newest mixed compliation cd entitled “History”. Which Explores the entire span of Drum and Bass.
Owning his own studio in Huntington Beach, California, he hosts his own radio show called MOVEMENT RADIO. With special guest DJ’s all the time, don’t be surprised if you see this boy online at weird times during the night.
