Biography of Olcyrus
DJ / Producer Olcyrus has a strong background of punk, metal and pre 93' hip hop. After trying his hand with many bands, the dj bug hit. Finding drum and bass in 98', he has made a steady and ever present contribution to the seattle dnb community
Olcyrus first started playing the club scene in late 99'. Since then he has played at many weeklies, monthlies and one-offs. Late 2000 saw his first residency at 'aftermath' the then longest running dnb night in seattle.
Audio engineering was also calling to Olcyrus. In 2001 he attended the California Recording Institute in San Francisco CA. With three analog and three digital studios, he got a real world hands on approach to production. 'nothing beats twisting knobs on a $1,000,000 neve console'
Olcyrus returned to Seattle in 2002 and resumed his club work. He picked up a residency playing at the 'Compound Records' night. At the same time he began working at Platinum records. This put him in constant contact with the new tunes and distributors
Since then it has been a steady onslaught of gig after gig. 2005 saw Olcyrus start a weekly night called 'Wavelength Wednesdays'. The night was a great succes and brought new flavors to people every week.
Opening for heavywieghts like Spor, Chris Renegade, Dom & Roland, Infiltrata, John B, Total Science, Pendulum and more, Olcyrus has 'earned his stripes' to become a solid piece of the seattle dnb community
2007 has been a wildly busy year for Olcyrus. Aside from having one of the busiest dj schedules in town, he has also managed to book the first stateside tour for one of his musical influences Fanu. Olcyrus also has received some recent press in the pages of Knowledge Magazine UK in the section titled 'Give em' props'. He recently opened for another influence, Breakage and has also finished the 'producers of seattlednb.com' mix of all unsigned and scorching hot tracks. Download it in the player and go to seattlednb.com to learn more about contacting the artists. As always Olcyrus would love for you to send him your music.
