Biography of DJ Chance
In the summer of Y2K, Garrett Burke first got the idea to go get a set of Technics, a mixer, and a box of records. Who would have guessed it would become the passion that would drive so many aspects of his life. Like so many other DJ's he wished to be the one in the spotlights, looking over the turntables into a sea of party kids and ravers dancing and having the time of their lives all because of the atmosphere and vibe he had created with his music. Many months passed as Garrett honed in skills, trained his ears, and found a style that suited not only his musical tastes but his personality as well. With influences like Dave the Drummer, Christopher Lawrence, Chris Liberator, Choci, Punk Floyd, DJ Dread, and Knowledge he was sure to find something to make the people dance with. Starting with high-energy progressive trance, he moved quickly to beats of hard-trance, NRG, and acid-trance. Finally he was able to blend all of those styles to create what he called 'Hard-Dance'. 'This is a more aggressive style that lets me be myself behind the decks.' March 10, 2001 was quite and exciting day for Garrett, as it would be for any DJ. This was his first gig, 'Bittersweet Beats', an outlaw rave that was held at the ever-famous 'Fort Worcester' venue (also known as 'BOINK'). This abandoned warehouse was filled with people waiting to be blown away. 'For 1 hour I felt like I was on top of the world. I had never experienced the vibe that you feel behind the decks. It was very addicting. It was alot more than I could have ever hoped for!' It has been a fantastic journey for Garrett the entire way. Many more gigs have followed and he's had many musical awakenings and inspirations. Now its 2004 and Garrett is better than ever. A 6 month trip to Houston Texas to live with his brother and get some direction in life. When asked what the future holds for this multi-talented DJ, he replies 'The future? Umm, I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing ,and have the best time doing it'.
