Biography of DJ Worthy

Currently residing in San Francisco, DJ Worthy grew up around Washington DC in the early days of Deep Dish, Scott Henry and the early American rave scene. In the late 90's after moving to New York City, Worthy met good friend Justin Martin who exposed him to the sounds of people like LTJ Bukem, Stacey Pullen, and Sasha. These influences made an impression on this young producer as he began to experiment with records of all genres; from hip hop to breaks to techno and drum n bass.

In 2001 Worthy set up his studio in San Francisco and began producing house music. He DJed around the city at clubs such as The Top, Lit, and Anu. Soon a San Francisco tech house label called Dirtybird noticed Worthy's talent and invited him to be a resident at their huge monthly summer event in Golden Gate Park along side Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and Christian Martin. He has shared the decks with other great DJs such as Jesse Rose, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, and Luke Solomon. In 2006 Worthy started his own label, Katabatic Records, as a way to showcase his music on his own terms. Katabatic Records has been releasing a steady stream of quality tech house and has gained praises for its edgy music.

2007 is looking to be a break out year for Worthy. Two releases are coming out on Dirtybird Records including an ep and a remix of Claude VonStroke’s “The Whistler”. As well as an ep on Matt Tolfrey’s label Leftroom Limited and releases on Katabatic Records. If you haven’t heard, you will soon know that he is worthy.

Comment: Alrighty, if you are in the mood for a semi-dirty tech-house set, similar to fellow Dirtybird Recordings artists like Claude VonStroke or Justin Martin, this is right up your alley. Running just over an hour, this set is well mixed and the sound quality is superb. Worthy mixes a lot of his own stuff, along with some tracks from other talented producers, to bring an interesting tech-house set to you. I'll have to check out some his tracks. This guy's got talent!

Comment: Just stellar... I was looking online for a Worthy mix because he is spinning down here w/ Christian Martin this weekend (in fact, this is what brought me to this site to begin with). I just can't get enough DirtyBird!
