Jeremy Jive is best known as a purveyor of fine house music. His sound is best described as a fusion of classic American house with filtered jazz and soul. Jeremy has the ability to either keep a room entertained with flowing soulful music, or take it up a notch and get a crowd hopping. His career originally began as a concert promoter and an audio producer in the mid 90’s. While bringing in international acts to Toronto concert venues and nightclubs, Jeremy began to take an interest in performing himself.
After a few years of successfully performing in Southern Ontario , Jeremy took some time off to concentrate on broadcasting. While finding work in the Toronto radio broadcasting community, there was still something missing. Jeremy’s need for creativity was not being fulfilled or completely challenged on the air. He needed to be back on the stage controlling a crowd and sharing his love for music.
In 2002, Jeremy fell in love with the deep jazzy sounds coming from producers in San Diego and San Francisco. The start of his recent success came with the release of his first mixed CD entitled 'Enjoy'. The CD was set to be a take off to an earlier release called “Nude Tempo” by one of his main influences Miguel Migs. The success of the CD lead to the quick turnaround and production of his follow up disc entitled 'Simple' .
This mixed CD saw a further evolution and a movement in Jeremy’s sound to a more jazzy and less vocal based feeling. The third effort by Jeremy Jive is titled “Stereo patterns.” It is an up-tempo mix of vocal house and classic remixes including hip hop and house classics. The latest editions to the mix archive include “Hello”, “Audio”, “Spring” and “Live@Atmosphere”.
“Hello” is a deep mix with a darker driving undertone and the follow up to Lazydaze Vol. 1. While the flow is smooth, the vocals set the tone and the seamless mixing takes the listener on the intended journey. “Audio” is the live set from NYE 2006 as it was played at legendary 270 Spadina. While Montreal’s Lafleche plays in upstairs, Jeremy Jive was downstairs blending this combination of west coast and disco infused house. “Spring” is a return to the programming style of Jeremy’s mixes while showcasing the journey in sound that has influenced Jeremy’s style.
'Lazydaze Volume 1', the mix CD to commemorate the start of Lazydaze Sundays in Toronto. It is a complete west coast vocal house compilation comprised of current and past favourites lovingly crafted together... It is no secret that the biggest influence on Jeremy s career has been San Francisco producer Kaskade, for his recent visit to Toronto Jeremy record Tribute The music of Kaskade which is a seamlessly mixed compilation of Kaskade s original and remix work.
The man behind the Dub Republic is no stranger to working alone or along side a team of fellow house fanatics. In the summer of 2003, Jeremy Jive began to play for the Toronto branch of DeepHouseNetwork Records, a label based in Dublin, Ireland. As a regular guest at the legendary nights such as Hustlin’ nights 99 Sudbury, Element Nightclub and a resident DJ at Boa-Redux and WeDance, Jeremy has aligned himself with the greatest in talent and promotion in Toronto.
The fall of 2004 brought along the notable international accomplishment for Jeremy Jive. His first mix was picked up for internet broadcast by Digitally Imported Radio (di.fm) and through Apple iTunes radio. Over the course of two years Jeremy has had the pleasure of having each of his mixes reach regular rotation on the stations to overwhelming fan approval. You can also catch his mixes playing on 1groove.com and club246.com on various shows during the day. With these backings, Jeremy has had the pleasure of playing for various promoters and clubs in Toronto and Los Angeles.
