Biography of DJ Prato

Enough about you. Lets talk about me some more. I was born in Florida. But quickly moved on to the US tour that would become my childhood. Colorado, Washington D.C., Portland, Idaho, and finally, Missouri. All with yearly visits to Philadephia and Florida. Music has always been my first love. And one of the few constants of my youth. It began with hip-hop in the 80s. Newcleus, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash.

Then came electronic music in the late 80s. As a young teen I found if you bought the 12” single releases of artists like New Order, Depeche Mode and Yaz you would get an extra long version of the song. Thus, my vinyl collection began. In the early 90s I got into dance music. Much of which was breaks-based. Buying from UK labels like Impact and Moving Shadow. By that point my extensive music collection landed me my first DJ job in Columbia, MO.

By the ripe old age of 17, my teen nights became popular enough that soon the club owners were booking me into the regular Friday and Saturday night slots.

By the mid 90s I had moved to the Kansas City area with my wife to work in advertising. I played parties and club nights here and there around the city and built a small following in the house and breaks communities.
