Biography of Basement Freaks
Started in 2005 by GEORGE FOTIADIS@JORHE from Thessaloniki/Greece. First time involved with music was in 93 where he was the songwriter& guitarist of an indie rock band called 'THE SHEPHERDS'(93-97). Many live performances and a debut 7'single 'BURIED' released by Lazy Dog records in june 95.Band split in 97. Started producing music at the basement where he lives in 2001 under the name 'INTOCYRCLE'(chill/ambient/dub) In 2003 Intocyrcle release a track 'Maui Tici Tici' on Candyflip recs V/a 'Mountain High' (12-03). Also performing live with DECADES'(Electro-pop project)from DjPiCi one of the best techno djs in Greece. Played together in a couple of festivals in Greece and at Notting Hills Arts Club-London/U.K 13-10-03 That period jorhe infected from the metropolis sound and so started mixing urban styles such as HipHop-Funk-Disco-Dub&Breakbeat to release his debut album with BASEMENT FREAKS in 2006 for Music Kitchen records.CHICK011CD/Basement Freaks/Urban Jungle For 'URBAN JUNGLE Jorhe has been corporate with the following musicians: MICHAEL WEISBERGER:Sax NICK TURBIS:Bongos LOPEZ:Flute ORE:Trompone MARINA:Fx Vocals A concept album which penetrates in a unique way the city rhythms and imprints the sounds of urban Jungle, from the personal viewpoint of BASEMENT FREAKS. An album with freestyle attitude which unfolds through the absolute funky beats, afro and latin grooves,bossa and jazzy elements and all this put together using dub techniques. The album brings together top musicians including New York funkmeisters MILO Z. The Reputation of BASEMENT FREAKS spreads with fast rhythms and international reception has been enthusiastic… One of the best funky groovy albums ever to come from Greece.

Comment: Yeah honestly I was not feeling this mix at all. If I heard this while I was out I don't think it would have me moving and grooving. it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Ill have to search on youtube or myspace first before downloading from now on.
