Biography of Negru
Negru, by his real name Laurentiu Stan, is the grandson of Johnny Raducanu (one of the most influential & notorious jazz artists in Romania). Born on the 6th of December 1975 in Bucharest, Negru took piano classes for 12 years at George Enescu highschool. Since 1990 he felt attracted by RAP music & culture, things that he still values today. He spent 4 years on the island of Ibiza, participating at almost every major clubbing event in the area, in clubs ranging from Space & Pacha to DC10 & Amnesia. He says Danny Tenaglia impressed him the most. He returned from Ibiza with lots of quality music on vinyls and an impressive urge to succeed in his future-to-come DJ career. He started to learn DJ-ing on a couple of turntables he borrowed from close friends, already having some 300 vinyls with music to play around with. In May 2006 he started to twist the decks at Gossip Club, Bucharest, where he was acclaimed by a large audience. Gigs at Amsterdam Grand Cafe, and a whole pack of parties again at Gossip Club were the next steps to follow. A short time after, clubs from other cities in the country wanted DJ Negru in their booth to spice up the parties. Negru likes dynamic music & vibes and defines his personal style as tech-house with minimal influences. Besides projects regarding electronic music, Negru is also a member of the romanian HIP HOP scene, involved in `Proiectul Verde` underground music project (engl.: Green Project) In less than 8 months he got to mix along with top name international DJs and artists such as: Ame (@Nights.ro Awards 2007 @ Bamboo Club), James Lavelle, Djuma Soundsystem, Jody Wisternoff, Guy Gerber(@Studio Martin), Terry Lee Brown Jr.(@ Embryo), Toni Rios and Nuttrunner (@ Kristal Glam Club) and many others… During his yet short career as a DJ, Negru has succeded to impress every time he entered the DJ booth. At the recently ended Romanian Electronic Music Awards so make sure you keep a close eye on him. He’s H.O.T!
