There are many DJs who claim to be 'all about Detroit'. Well, Harley is not only from Detroit, he embodies it. Detroit is the home of techno and the sound of Detroit techno flows through Harleys' veins. From an early age, the DJ world coincided with the theatre for Harley. He began his music career in 1987 as a roadie, and lighting operator for the legendary DJ Bill. For the next 7 years Harley became a respected club DJ, and studied lighting and sound design. After seeing Rich Hawtin play at Hardest, Harley decided to change direction and immersed himself in the mid '90s Detroit rave scene. Over the past ten years Harley has established himself as Detroit's premier lighing designer for dance environments, and currently works for Burst L.L.C. as lighting designer, and sound tech. In 2002, Harley and Doc Raymond began broadcasting on the internet on www.NewDetroitRadio.com. New Detroit Radio has grown to become a respected outlet for the wealth of underrated talent that Metro Detroit has to offer. Harley is a DJ that refuses be pigeonholed by constantly seeking out new and interesting music, and keeping an open mind and ear. Techno is still his mainstay, but he also plays D&B, House, Acid, or anything else that catches his fancy. He's built a reputation by seemlessly blending Techno, to D&B, and back again. Harley has began producing, and hopes to have his own music released in the near future. Harley From Detroit can be heard every week live on NewdetroitRadio.com.

I've always had a passion for music. I studied the piano since I was a child, until one day I understood that this wasn't enough for me.
When I was 13 I discovered the world of disco and rave parties: I immediately realized that this was my world.
I started playing in some parties, but I understood that this was only a part of my interests. So I started making music with my computer.
My old projects didn't satisfy me completely, so I have been working on the research of new sonorities. I have created a lot of tracks that are still on the hard disk of my PC and when I have played some of them in some parties, people let me know they are great.
I don't like to conform to the trends of the moment. I think that music is art, and obviously it needs creativity, which is a subjective endowment.
For this reason in my tracks I don't like to follow the standards.
' World is dominated by rules and standards
Mental cages generating identical creatures.
Standards remote control your life,
break your wings and don't let you fly away...
Smash your limits...feel free to be yourself
and run against the standards! '

Doc Raymond has been a working class DJ for nearly 20 years, making his bones in the clubs of Suburban Detroit. While earning a BFA in theater at the North Carolina School of the Arts, Doc picked up the DJ bug working dance parties on and off campus. Eventually ending up in the Detroit area, he started working as a DJ equipment salesman at the early stages of the DJ movement and has been on the forefront of DJ and nightclub equipment since, doing professional demonstrations for Pioneer, and being a beta tester for many of the top names in DJ gear. During that period, you could find Doc behind the scenes at many of the early Detroit underground parties, either on the crew or just soaking in the amazing sounds of what became the world famous Detroit Techno movement. In the late 90's he began to experiment with making his own tracks and remixes. Under the names 'Samich Jackson' and 'The Mulletmen', he's reached clubbers around the globe with bootlegs, white labels, and the smash hit 'Long Time' with the Static Revenger. Throughout his career, he experimented with many genres of music and has a love for 80's retro and 90's dance. Today, you'll find Doc Raymond spinning music with a distinctive edge, filling dance floors with everything from smooth and soulful to banging beats and in one weekend you can catch him doing a house set one night, a D-n-B set the next. Big room, small room… it doesn't matter to Doc as long as the people have a great time.
