Biography of Gil Barbara
Gil Barbara always was a devoted promoter of the electronic culture in Brazil. Its contribution started in 89 as resident DJ of club Nepal, one of the alternative basements of São Paulo. His sound was a fusing between hip hop, soul, funk, indie rock, the first signals of life of house and techno. Its commitment and love for music made him presents the show New Sensations in radio Nova FM in 1990 and write the 'Musical Science' column in the magazine DJ Sound in partnership with djs Mau Mau and Guilherme M.
In 1992, Gil started as resident of the club Columbia, one of the best brazilian clubs ever. His sets full of musical information and groove, made him play in main clubs as Nation, Sra. Krawitz, Latino, Hell's Club, Live, Lov.e, A Lôca, Stereo, THC, Stardust, Piranha, Botechno, Mood, Massivo and in the Rebolado party with DJ Luis Pareto. He was resident at JazzyClub and the night Efeitos in club Manga Rosa. He also plays anually in the Peace Parade since 2000.
In the club B.A.S.E. in 1997, Gil presented the show Electric Circus, in the radio Metrô FM, where he interviewed big international names as Dave Angel, John Carter and Derek Dhalarge among others.
About the same period after he specialized in computer science Gil and her friend Gaía Passarelli created the site » www.rraurl.com, dedicated to brazilian electronic scene. Today, their site shelters the biggest online clubber community of Brazil.
One of the most respected professional in São Paulo for its ability and knowledge in computers, currently Gil divides his time between works for appraised audio/video studios and his work as dj and producer.
His music explores different aspects of house as funky, soul, breaks and heavy percurssion and he released the track 'Overdub' on Smartbiz Compilation Vol. 1 under the name dev909 on 2002.
