Biography of Salva Coromina
Elegance, style, smooth, finesse, class, skills.. are just some of the words often used when talking about this dj. In a world dominated by strong egos, cheap dancefloor hits and general bullshit, MouseUp has made his way with just the strength of his professionality... for he's the kind of guy more interested in a well done job than any stardom and popularity: a rara avis in the dj world of today.
Legend says when Salva Coromina started to delve into the world of electronic music he was already an acomplished guitarist and sound technician. With a background as member of several local bands; Salva has a spent his life surrounded with music so it didn't take long for him to fully immerse in the emerging electronic scene of his hometown. Starting as a mobile jock with a cd-flightcase he soon graduated on the SL1200's, landing a spot on a then unknown beach joint some kilometers north up Barcelona; it didn't take long for Lasal and his brand-new resident to be on everyone's lips.
It was already at this early stage of his career when he decided to split his artistic persona in two different identities: whereas MouseUp will stand for more dancefloor, uptempo sort of stuff the MouseDown nick would see him exploring all kind of experimental and leftfield grounds.
This promising beginnings granted him a lucky apperance at Sonar 1998; a man not to miss any opportunity he completely stole the show with a blinding set that perfectly showcased his skills and top notch selection. This appearance started a reputation who hasn't stop growing ever since. His engagements with various catalan techno clubs led to a series of appearances in clubs and festivals all over the spanish geography, so it was no wonder when Angel Molina asked him to join as a resident of the Spunny Club. This club saw the consolidation of his spinning skills in all kind of sets from warmups to 5-hour long nights, after all this is a guy who's equally at ease takin' it down and deep or bangin' away on a full-on stomp. As news of his flawless sets began arriving to Barcelona, he was soon asked to join the Loft/Lolita family of dj's, a club where he has remained for more than six years, thus becoming one of the oldest residents in their ever-expanding dj rooster.
Like many other dj's, consolidation of his career led him to explore the world of music production. Being such a busy guy, he has kept a rather low profile, prefering to slowly hone his production skills and let the odd releases come out once in a while. For record buyers and trainspotters alike, he's probably known as the 50% of Spare Time, the joint collaboration between MouseUp and Undo. Combining his finesse and deepness with Undo's sense for melody, their two twelves are a testament to their hability to produce deep grooves with a pop flavour. More recently he's been rumoured to collaborate with another member of the Factor City family and fellow The Loft resident: D.A.R.Y.L.. Little is known about such collaboration: being such a secretive chap, he rather keep his mouth shut and let the music do the talk. For the the rest, he will be happy with his family, friends and music. True people.
