Biography of Naveen G

Naveen G, aka Samsara, has emerged as a promising producer and dj whose hallmark of diversity shines through in both his varied productions and eclectic djing sets. This versatility is the product of such polar musical interests that range from his exposure to the early 90’s industrial and rave scenes in New York, followed by a move to Chicago where he became involved with the electronic music pioneers at WNUR 89.7 and developed an appreciation for the roots of house music. Being surrounded by the full spectrum of dance music through the radio DJs there and having played the range from drum n bass to minimal techno himself, Naveen G has never been content to stick to one musical style.

After he began djing in 1998, He quickly rose through the ranks in the club scene earning rotating spots at such Chicago hotspots as Spundae, Smartbar, Zentra and House of Blues. His eagerness to play many styles of music has allowed him to open and play alongside such greats djs as Lee Burridge, Chris Fortier, Low End Specialists, Sandra Collins, Behrouz, Jerry Bonham and Satoshi Tomiie, with appearances from San Francisco to Thailand. Having completed a tour of Southeast Asia, Naveen G’s mixture of minimal, techouse, and progressive has garnered the respect of his peers and beyond. He nows holds one of the longest running shows on the esteemed Proton Radio internet radio station (Darker Shades, 1st Thursday of every month 5-7pm EST).

However, Naveen G remains perhaps best known for the subtle dancefloor workings he carves out in the studio. From his first releases as Samsara, on the world-reknown Yoshitoshi label run by Grammy-award winners Deep Dish, Naveen G shot straight to the tracklist of the prestigious Global Underground series on Satoshi Tomiie’s Nubreed cd. From there, his subsequent work on such labels as Chug, M-theory and Toes in the Sand have found favor with some of the most cutting edge and forward thinking DJs around. With plays from Sasha and Digweed, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Moshic and Jonathan Lisle, Naveen G has found favor with fans of techhouse, progressive, breaks and house.

With DJ sets that combine relentless basslines with the rhythms of complex drums and futuristic sounds, and future releases that continue to push musical borders, Naveen G is never content with being confined to boundaries of musical genres. Naveen G has been known to floor crowds with his expansive range of styles all thrown together with a good helping of bass. From downtempo to techno and everything in between, with the productions to match, his audiences have learned to expect the unexpected.
