Biography of Jamie Thinnes

Jamie's love affair with electronic music began in the latter part of 1992.

Captivated by the DJ's ability to manipulate the moods of the audience, Jamie embarked on his journey into the world of sound. He began honing his craft, playing at local clubs and parties. He learned to become conscious of his listeners, working the mix and feeding off the energy they gave him, capturing their vibe and adding to it.

As he explains it, 'It's more than putting two records together. It's blending a thought out plan based not only around my mood, but also the moods of my listeners.' Jamie found within himself a natural desire to understand and develop the educational knowledge of pursuing a serious career in the music business. He enrolled and graduated in a recording engineering program, refining his knack for sound design and structure.

A short time after, he founded his now thriving Seasons Recordings imprint (formerly Earth Tones). His intense passion for organic sounds and deep-rooted baselines is the benchmark for any music carrying the Seasons Recordings stamp of approval. Jamie plays the role of full time label mogul by day, while his nights are spent performing in clubs and parties both here and abroad. He also put together an Earthtones party at Cashmere (Toronto) with J.T. Donaldson and Dino & Terry...

In the international scene, Jamie has been heard in clubs in Hamburg (Germany), DiY's party in Nottingham (England) and the Scuba party thrown by Chris Duckenfield for Swag, Primitive and Odori Records in Sheffield (England), Watch Out 2000 with Jef K & the Rex Club in Paris and also a number of parties in South Africa and Australia. He has played alongside some of the most respected jocks in the industry, such as Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Fred Everything and countless others. Jamie has most recently finished second installment in the Nature’s Composition series titled Nature’s Composition Vol 2 for Seasons Recordings, which will include all of Seasons past and current releases.

Constantly striving to make his presence felt, he is now turning his energies to the production of a full Seasons cloth clothing line which will be seen in store fall 2002.

Comment: clocking in at only 29.02 minutes, this set showcases Jamie's super-smooth, ultra-suave mixing style, but doesn't push the envelope of sounds he's known for. An almost-lazy, west-coast vibe is set up, with easily recognizable track selection, and no real surprises. this is a great set for sunny afternoons relaxing, or as an early-evening warm-up to some more banging sounds. with luck, part 2 of this mix will pick up the funk and stretch the soundscape with a bit more variety... enjoy!
