Coming from Italy and producing electronic music is a bit special these days, it has established some of the most interesting and succesful names in the music scene in the last years, both when it comes to artists and labels. A vawe of italian producers has spread over the planet. The tracks that has come out has most of the times shown a great sense for combining multiple layers of complex rhythms with the principles of straight house music. The rhythm and the groovey bassline combined with catchy synths and looped vocals, give a great impact and a very dynamic environment. Umberto Carmignani is another extreme tallent that has gain very good critics for his works on various labels specially for the EPs on GFR Records and Dave Angel's Rotation label. being a expert DJ for well over ten years he has experienced the development of the modern percussive and electronic music and has played with most of the people who helped develop techno into what it is today. His Functional Elements EP on GFR has got an impressive response from all the main DJs, it's driving rhythms and rolling bass has entertained dancefloors all over the planet... Born in Italy 05/03/1975, at the age of five Umberto Carmignani moved to London with his family. During his schooling, he became interested and greatly influenced by the music culture of the 80s. He began collecting original vinyl from bands such as New Order, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. Later on, following 10 years of living in England, Umberto moved back to Italy, and it was during high school were he started to gain a personal interest into electronic music, taking influences in that period from labels such as: Underground Resistance, Novamute and Plus 8. As he reached his late teens, he realised that electronic music was the extra thing he was looking for; enhancing his background & skills in parallel with the techno culture of the middle 90s. He soon became one of the most respected djs in the local scene, playing in the best events organised in the city by promoters of LOOSE CLUB. He also plays for several ORBEAT PARTIES. The Neapolitan techno scene gives him the opportunity to meet creative people, and receive further inspiration in pushing the boundaries. After about 5 years of working as a dj, he decided the next step for him was to become a producer. His increasing interest in music lead him to further studies and after 2 years he graduated with a degree in Audio Engineering. During this period Umberto began building up his own studio, with analogue and digital equipment; his increased knowledge inspired him to elaborate on his own musical ideas. His debut E.P. has been released on GFR Records a Swedish label. Following this work Umberto signed with the prestigious Rotation Records owned by Dave Angel. His skills of working a crowd in his sets make dancing irresistible which has made him one of the most respected and loved djs in the city...
