Biography of K-Dub

Kelly started his electronic love not listening to house or trance or any music of the sort. In 1992 he was introduced to industrial metal by a close friend and started listening to bands like KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, 16 Volt, Nine Inch Nails, and so on. It is a very distorted heavy metal like music but with a techno beat. In 1994 he was then thrown into the San Francisco underground music scene by a friend that was a promoter for Cool World, one of the largest productions crews in SF at that time. Although Kelly lived 90 miles outside of San Francisco in the town of Modesto, he became a regular of the warehouse parties such as the unforgettable “The Gathering” parties by Martin(from Ireland), Funky Techno Tribe and Space Children parties in San Francisco.

He is a self taught dj that started his turntable skills on a Sony beltdrive and a Technics turntable that had no pitch control. In 1997 he bought his beloved Technics 1200's and mastered the skill of beat matching and blending of 2 and 3 records to sound as one. He has become very precise in his skills as you may notice in his dj sets, he tends to like to blend two tracks for 2 to 5 minutes depending on the music, making the two seem to flow together for ever. Trance being his first choice of music in the early years, he soon followed with house and tech-house music. For him, house music seemed to have soul or feeling to it, which moved him like no other style of music he had ever heard!

In 1999 a crew out of Sacramento, CA (Funkybaby Productions) got ahold of his mix tape at the local underground record shop (Motion Music). They were soon to contact him and have him come to Sacramento(70 miles north of Kelly's home town of Modesto) and play at a local underground party. After the first 30 minutes of his set they decided to bring him on board with the Funkybaby crew. For the following 3 years Funkybaby and Kelly took on the Sacramento/San Francisco underground scene by storm with their 25+ Fullmoon parties and multiple weeklies where Kelly held residencies at: DNA Lounge in San Francisco and at the Townhouse in Sacramento.

2002 Kelly decided to part way with the Funkybaby crew and do something different. He teamed up with 2 of his good friends from his hometown, Phil Gauthier and Jesse Benitez. The only 2 people who had the love for house music as he does. They became the crew now known as 'Tribal Souls' in San Francisco. They started out throwing parties in a small underground basement in downtown Oakland, California just outside SF that had the capacity of about 200 people. Their very first underground they had 170 house heads show up for the party and their headliner Dano(redmelon records) which was very surprising since not many people knew who Tribal Souls were at the time. Now they have over 3 years under their belt as a promoter crew and have had djs such as: Evil Eddie Richards, Jay Tripwire, Mazi, Tyler Stadius, Ty Tek, Little Mike, Dj Adnan, Tony Hewitt, Garth, Patrick Turner, Terry Francis, Daniel Poli, Grant Dell, Gideon Jackson, Marky Star and many other world wide djs to play at their small intimate underground party in the Bay Area.

On March 8th 2004 Tribal Souls teamed up with Rescue, Household and P:M Sessions to throw a day time party at the Winter Music Conference in Miami Florida. It was a successful day time party with Tyler Stadius, Gideon Jackson, Terry Francis, Daniel Poli, A.D.D., Mazi, Patrick Turner, Dj Three, David Preston & Oscar, J.V., Vick & Berger, Ethan, Oscar Vonseca, and the Tribal Souls crew of course. On October 2nd 2004 the 'Love Parade' came to San Fransico, USA for the first time and Tribal Souls led the entire party with their float of djs including Daniel Poli, Adnan and Tribal Souls crew. With everything seeming to be going in the right direction for the 3some(Tribal Souls ), they were slapped in the face with the news that they were named the #1 promoter crew in San Francisco by the 'San Francisco Bay Guardian' (SFBG). They celebrated heir good news and thank San Francisco for all the support!

Kelly had to minimise his djing for most of the year of 2005 due to uncontrollable circumstances, he is now back and has re-invented himself as a dj and changed his dj name to K-DUB (his nick name). In doing this he hopes to have a fresh start in the electronic world, because he has such a new outlook on house music from the long absence he was forced to endure. Kelly (K-DUB) is back with nothing to hold him down and is ready to get his name back into the mix of things and take the electronic music world on by storm!

In the past 6 months that Kelly has been back into the groove of the house music scene he has been recognized for his dj skills. On 1-11-2006 he was the featured guest of the week on ProtonRadio.com and had 2 dj mixes streamed for all to hear on the 'Featured Artist' show by ProntoRadio's founding father, Sam Packer. Kelly is also a featured roster dj on DirtyDisco.net (London,UK), and his own sites: LateNightMix.com, djkdub.net, and his own internet radio station 'LateNightMix Tech House' on Live365.com. Things are looking up for him and his love of Tech house music without a doubt!
