Biography of DJ Inanna
The intimacy and power of the euphoric experience of music dominates all senses. It can be said no other creative composition is capable of ensnaring and assaulting ones senses like that of sound. It is capable of fusing mind, body and soul. Inanna's musical goal ultimately resides within the idea that we can reach a divine fusion through sound and that music can allows us to transcend our physical boundaries.
Inanna, with almost a decade of DJ'ing under her belt, has honed the versatile skills that have helped her stand out and continue to rise as one of the top female artists from the US. Her technically strong dj skills, combined with her insatiable energy and endurance behind the decks have established her concrete reputation. How many other Djs can say they have played a solid set while bleeding with a concussion, and later still, after 8 stitches to the face and a trip to the emergency room, came back to the club for more?
The list of accomplishments includes an array of achievements in the music industry. Some of her most memorable and successfull gigs include NAMM for Numark Industries, for the world renowned Cirque De Soliel, various WMC events in Miami, the Goddess series events in North America, and Las Pulgas, The Nortec Collective release events for Tijuana Sessions. She has performed at several of LA's hottest night clubs like Spundae, El Centro, Century Club, Mor Bar, and Larchmont. In addition to premiere performances in North America, Mexico and Europe she has held down several residencies including Runnin, a Garage, Break-Beat, and Dub-Step stateside weekly that aided the breakthrough of 2-step Garage and Break-Beat styles west of the Atlantic in the late 90's. Inanna has been featured in the magazines URB, XLR8R, The Boston Globe, Seattle Weekly, Duece, Undercover, Gothic Beauty, and guest reviewed releases for XLR8R. She has also appeared mixing live on netmusique and had her own radio show on Streetsradio FM in Los Angeles.
Upon her move from Boston to Los Angeles, Inanna chose a hiatus from performing to concentrate on her original production and remixing skills, re-emerging with a deep and emotionally raw sound, warm with heavy bass and rich with crisp tech beats. This year she has had releases on Rexhouse Records, Family Tree Records and Jook Music, including this years remix of Vinyl Life's Good Life and remixes of Nino Astronauta from their latest album. She has additional remix and solo releases slated for 2006 and 2007, including the Tongue and Cheek EP on Jook Music.
