Biography of Jaime James
Jaime James' foray into the DJ scene began a couple decades ago in Northern California. Although he was associated with other DJ crews (like Ladda Sounds based in Oakland) it wasn't until his younger brother brought home a pair of rickety Technics SL-BD20D (belt drive!) and a beat-up Numark mixer that were on loan from Divine Style Productions when things truly began. Eventually, a casual trip to Tower Records (when it was truly a 'record' store) had Jaime making his first of many purchases of vinyl records.
Jaime's DJ'ing experience went into full-speed after the DJ/owner of Divine Styles unfortunately passed away. Subsequently, Jaime and his brother took over ownership and continued to not only DJ, but they provided sound and lighting reinforcement as well. The weekly gigs (sometimes 3-4 times a week) included weddings, debutante balls, school proms, collegiate events (U.C.S.F., U.C. Berkeley and U.C. Davis graduation celebrations), Club X (an offshoot of S.F's longest running nightclub, City Nights), and DJ/Production showcases, including the Battle Of The Bay-DJ's Extravaganza.
Some years later, and with mobile DJ'ing behind him, Jaime currently DJ's under his birth name, Jaime James (occasionally under Gaijin). Although he freelances his services has frequently been associated with Ear Wacks Productions based in San Jose. In regards to Jaime's style of mixing, he incorporates an amalgamation of minimal/tech, electro and progressive but will throw in other house genres he feels will move the crowd. He has DJ'd at numerous 'underground' events and clubs around the Bay Area, including 111 Minna, 330 Ritch, Blowfish Santana Row, Cardiff Lounge, Il Pirata, Medjool Lounge, Paradise Lounge, The Shadow Lounge and Wish Bar & Lounge. He's also DJ'd for events thrown by the clothing stores Club Monaco, Nike and even 24 Hr. Fitness and Jane Magazine.
Jaime's first and only demo was released in May 2006 and it quickly acquired several thousand downloads on his host site www.MixDepot.net. In June 2006, Jaime's demo was transmitted by Spain's national radio station RADIO 3 (Radio Nacional de España) and played in rotation on their famous program DJ in Session-'Aún no me he repuesto de la noche que pase contigo'.
After years of rocking other artists' music, Jaime is now venturing into audio production and is planning on producing his own original tracks. He also has tentative worldwide representation (excluding Germany) through Natural Chunk Entertainment based in Barcelona, Spain and German representation (exclusive to Germany) through Fahrenheit 360 based in Melle, Germany.
