Sahar Khamenei aka Sahara was born in Iran and grew up in various parts of Europe. Throughout diverse cultural influence she developed an open-minded musical taste. Back in `96 she made her first experiences with jungle and drum&bass. Fascinated by the intensity and dynamics of that sound she became infected by the so called jungle fever.

Even though she has been collecting drum&bass, jungle, hip hop and downbeat records ever since,it took her till `99 to be able to afford turntables and mixer. After a year of ambitious practise she played sets for several crews in the Hanseatic area like Dunkelbunt, Rinse:Out, Drumburg, Basstarde). Furthermore, she dedided to found an event called ”Female Skillz“ where talanted female drum&bass artists have the possibility to present massive stylez of the broken beat. The debut of the Female Skillz events took place in the legendary Mojo club in Hamburg, supported by famous guests like DJ Spice (Back2Basics Recordings) and the Junglistic Sistaz, Shroombab (High Tension Recordings) and Terra MC.

2003, now she can look back to many sets in- and outside of Hamburg like the established Elektrolounge (Berlin), Flex (Vienna), DPM (Mattsee), Phonodrome (Hamburg) and the Vrankrejk (Amsterdam).

As an member of the Jungliztic Sistaz and Female Pressure, she was asked to have her first official mixtape-release together with DJ Icam on Intrauterin tapes, a subdivision of Intrauterin Recordings. Ever since, representing the strong movement of drum&bass as well as affecting the crowd by her tunes has always been her desire.

Her emphasis lies in the spread of contemporary, dark, but still ravey uk and european drum&bass.

Later on in 2002, she got in contact with dirty ghetto-/bootybass tunes as well as fast and hard electro sounds. Due to her musical developement, she started hitting clubs like the Jaz (Rostock) and the Lounge (Hamburg) with heating ghetto-bass sets.

Since may 2003 Sahara also organizes the Female Skillz together with a bigger promoter from Hamburg called Drumburg. The first Drumburg Female Skillz earned a respectful capacity of over 1000 guests.
