Biography of Fatboy Slim

A native of Brighton, England, Fatboy Slim climbed the career ladder as many in many different industries did: starting at the bottom and working his way North. He scored reasonable success as both a bandmate (playing for the Housemartins) and as part of an acid-house trio, Pizzaman. His solo paths were just as diverse, releasing albums under the names Freakpower and Might Dub Katz. Tempted to give up, but forging onwards nonetheless, Cook finally found his ultimate handle, the soon to be famous, Fatboy Slim.

His first release as Fatboy Slim, 1997’s Better Living Through Chemistry met excited audiences, but it wasn’t until 1998’s You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby that stardom struck. The breakthrough success of “Praise You', along with the undeniably catchy “Rockafellar Skank' (featuring the famous “right about now, the funk-soul brother…' put Fatboy Slim, and electronic music, on the map.

A preacher of easy living, it seems that others have taken his words to heart. The year 2000 saw the release of two Fatboy Slim compilation albums, none of which were sanctioned by the Funk Soul Brother. This has only frenzied the anticipation for the next Fatboy Slim album, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, slated to hit the market in early November, 2000. Yes, you’ve come a long way baby!

Comment: While I did lke this set, I now have to go dig out the Brighton Beach discs from a few years back to compare the sets. This is pretty good, with some usual (see it coming a mile away) parts thrown in for good reminiscing. I was waiting for him to do something when he dropped the Janis Joplin track, but he just let it play for the most part......maybe he had to go use the bathroom? ;-)

Comment: As usual Fatboy Slim is world class as choosing very catchy tunes for his sets, and his sets are very entertaining.... part of the entertainment is the horrible mixing.... it's amazing how he seems to get away with it! Needless to say this mix won't be recorded for release on CD! But this mix is worth a listen to as he has great tune selection!

Comment: To be honest, this is well worth having in your collection. The sounds are quite fine and i like the atmosphere you get when you hear the crowd in certain places. It does tend to jump around in a few places. Overall, I enjoyed it but have unfortunately heard better from Mr S.

Comment: This is another Fatboy Slim jammer. It includes a few of the typical tracks he dropped around this time of '07 and late '06, but it's still jammin. His mixing on this set isn't as good as I've heard from him, but still clean with a nice track selection.

ANYONE GOT A TRACK I.D. @ 22:00 min? Its a classic hip hop sample, nice vocals and a sick bass kick. Anyone help me out here? Either way, check it. It's a nice set. A classic with nice crowd sounds as well!

Comment: It was one of fatboy slims classical boring sets, mixing up old tracks and recent chartbreakers, every secondclass dj could do this. this guy is still living from his fame he gained in former times. I really cant believe why he is still that famous. anyway th set is not bad, but nothing special, have fun with it

Comment: Tremendous, this set is simply a whole lot of fun, tunes emcompassing all sub-genres of house/electro including some of his classics alright...
Crowd in the background can be very nice to have in a set and here its spot on as the quality of the Music hasnt suffered by it.

Very Recommended

Comment: This is standard Fat Boy awesomeness. It goes from fun to hard to classic like it always does. The audio quality isn't great but you can throw in on loud at a party and it's like you're there :) I'd just love to see him live some day!

Comment: The sound quality is exceptionally well considering this is a live set. I didn't really like the first track. Seemed like it ran on longer than it should have. After that though he spins the good stuff that we have come to love. He really tears it up. I would dance all night to this.

Comment: A typical fatboy slim mix full of big dance tunes, nice breaks and a selection of his own music. I think I prefer some of the other fatboy slim mixes i've downloaded, but this one definitely has the best sound quality of those i have downloaded.

Comment: This reminds me of the times I saw him spin in DC. It sounds exactly like those sets I saw live so it took me back ! I would have liked to hear something different but I loved the set nonetheless! I definitely recommend it, funky fresh!
