Biography of DJ Law

Its been more than a decade since DJ Law decided to blow all his money on a pair of 1200s and a mixer. At the time, no one knew it would be a moment that would eventually shape the hip-hop scene in Toronto. Although born in Toronto, Law spent his high school years in Lindsay, Ontario. As the hip-hop scene in Lindsay grew, so did Laws success as a DJ. He began playing at large parties and had people selling his mixtapes for him. At the time, he didnt think it could get any better for him. Then he moved back to T.O. Within three weeks of meeting and giving a mixtape to the owner of Beat Junkie - a small bar known as one of Torontos only real hip-hop spots at the time - Law held residency three nights a week for three years. Law is even busier these days. While working out the details for a U.S. radio show, he can still be found djing at least four nights a week. Thursday nights he holds down System Soundbar and you can hear him on 89.5 FM or Projectbounce.com on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Law doesnt believe in just being a name. As both a DJ and turntablist, he uses his equipment in every way it was meant to be used. He is constantly working on his craft and spends the little time he has at home perfecting his skills. His versatility and knowledge of music has had him opening for large commercial acts such as 50 Cent and Young Buck, as well as legendary artists such as Evil Dee, Jeru tha Damaja and Kid Kapri. I just want people to enjoy the music, he says. If you like commercial hip-hop then enjoy it! If you like underground hip-hop then enjoy it! His love for hip-hop combined with his attention to detail is what keeps his audiences entertained and constantly wanting more. He doesnt just spin records; he selects his tracks and mixes them in a way that leaves you convinced hes been playing it out in his head for a week. Hes so passionate about music that he probably has.
