Biography of Zen2
ZEN2 got his start in wichita, ks on aset of belt drive turntables and a mixer with no eq borrowed from a friend, he began assaulting ears with a signature blend of breakbeat infested jungle and hip hop in 2000. A pair 1200s later he hooked up with current crew member Craveone and gained notoriety as the duo´s infamous floor filling 2x2 tagteam d&b sets began murdering dancefloors in the midwest.
In addition to his ability to rock a crowd with mind gelling jacked up breakbeats and spine shattering bass, ZEN2 has explored alternate avenues of expression through special events and side projects. In 2002, he was invited to perform at the Wichita Center for the Arts where he broke new ground by rescoring classic silent cinema with a pair of turntables and a stack of wax. This innovative performance received widespread critic acclaim and his new version of 'Nanook of the North' was later broadcast on PBS. The event was met with such incredible success that the Arts Center turned what ZEN2 had intended as a one-off into a series of concerts that continues to this day true to his intended form of turntable rescoring.
ZEN2 now resides in Richmond, VA where he is a resident at Konkrete Jungle VA and continues to put out hard dubplates and mixes in many styles, most notably jungle, hip hop, and reggae
ZEN2 steps up with original beats performed live, pushing forward with new technology and concepts while remaining true to the live dub of greats like King Tubby and Mad Professor. This performance sets new limits on what is considered 'dub' or 'downtempo' music and includes exclusive live remixes of two tracks by Craveone.
