Biography of DJ Mitch aka Maurizio Miceli

The biggest joy for me is to have a record in my hands and know how to make people happy with it at the right moment. That's why I have so much fun. A philosophy, a way of looking at life, the belief in cause, and it made me question my life, time and again. 'What are you doing? Are you on the right track? What's your message? What are giving and what are you getting?' Over the years, I increasingly feel that I use music as a transmitter for myself to give something to the people. All the tracks are done. I can't modify them, there's no surprise for me, but there are the improvisation I can develop with the audience. So, I have fun playing records.

I have done it for 19 years now (not constantly), and I can take risks, record after record : you develop something in 2 hours instead of playing something planned in 30 minutes during a live set. In a live, you also have to play a role, with all your body, but as a dj, I'm totally myself and I'm proud of it. I don't like to play roles. I am far away from a kind of star status but I live the music. Deephouse and minimal sound was always my thing. Sometimes I also play tech and dub house or and lounge. When people stand in front of the dj desk and look at what I do, I think it's nice, but I am not really getting a kick out of it. The hype's ok, but I don't need adoration. I think is great when the evening's beautiful and people enjoy it. After each set, I examine my self. How did people react? Have I made any mistakes? Peoples said it was great, but I thought it sucked. When I make a mistake in my set, it really annoys me. I analyze everything I do three or four times. Maybe that's going to drive me insane one day. I am a perfectionist. In producing in particular I would never hand in anything I didn't like 100 percent.
