DJ^3….
JJ Stonebraker's passion for music all started in the summer of 1996. DJ^3 (Cubed) fell in love with electronic music after seeing Doc Martin at the infamous Houston venue Orbit Room. His first passion for music started with a hybrid of groovy house and techno, but soon changed to his more commonly known blends of Progressive Trance and Breaks. It was not long before DJ^3 could be found dropping tracks at house parties across the state and at events large and small. In August of 1999, DJ^3 became affiliated with Moonmagnet, a Dallas based DJ Crew that now affiliates itself with many well known Dallas DJs and producers. Membership certainly had its benefits as DJ^3 experienced full on exposure and main stage deck time at each of Moonmagnet's events. The journey all started for DJ^3 as he rocked the floor at his debut performance, 'Do You Remember Love?' on February 19, 2000.
As his sound matured and skills improved DJ^3 has gone on to play events throughout Texas along side world renowned artists Collette, Micro, Spooky, Bam Bam, Deepsky, Stakka and Skynet and Twin Peaks to name a few. While sharing his unique sound across the state, DJ^3 has also managed to release eight, full length CD mix sessions to his continuously growing fan base. Each project has managed to build on the experience and creativity of the last, making every new release that much better and more anticipated than the last.
It was the end of 2001 when DJ^3 was asked to play a small outdoor event known as 'Phase 1.' It was at this show that he met Trey Turner, Cody Haynes and Jason Hemmenway aka Deceptakahn, Austin's favorite 2-step and UK Garage DJ. It was after this small Austin party that DJ^3 was formally inducted into the Zoobeats collective responsible for many of Austin's small outdoor events, as well as a smash NYE 2001 show in downtown Austin. Zoobeats would not be the end of JJ's how to produce high vibe events. One of Asylum's most elaborate events, Sainted Rhythms, was the work of APB Entertainment of which JJ had an integral role as promotion lead and event production manager. The event hosted a who's who of talent including, Deepsky, Twin Peaks, Ron-E, Trey Turner, and others filling three stages for an all night event.
There is more to JJ Stonebraker than meets the eye. As a member of the Screen Actor's Guild, JJ is an accomplished actor. Most memorable, is his appearance in Wes Anderson's 'Rushmore', featuring Bill Murry which was released in 1998. Taking his knowledge of the 'performance' and adding that element of excitement to his abilities as a DJ make him not only dynamic, but a kick ass musician all around. DJ^3 can be found behind the decks virtually every weekend be it at a 'rave', club or underground renegade. He is currently exploring original production work and has his hands in several future projects for release.
