DJ Little Willie Love is the old timer in the local scene. Those close to him have been known to call him Papa. His family life keeps him in-check, but his love for the music keeps him on the decks. Raised on the west coast house vibe, Willie got his first exposure to house through such legendary events as the Wicked full moon parties, SF's Boogie Buffet and Sunday afternoon's at The End-Up. Dancing to master DJ's like Jeno, Garth and Doc Martin, Willie got first hand knowledge of how a DJ could push and pull a floor with keen programming, slick mixing and awareness of crowd flow.
Living in Reno, Nevada in the early 90's, Willie Love participated mainly as a promoter. He was able to help build the Reno house scene along with cohorts DJ's Christophe and Olivier Desmet. Many small warehouse and nightclub gigs, featuring the likes of Digs & Whoosh (DIY), Rick Preston, DJ Dan and Evil Eddie Richards, helped cement a life long addiction to house and respect for the history of the genre. Willie left Nevada in 1997 and things at this point were about to change.
Arriving back in his native Michigan, Willie found himself seriously missing what made him most happy...house music. Investigating the local scene, he found some big warehouse parties, but none of the magical club nights that fueled his love for the music. So, after a few record shopping trips to Chicago, he did the only thing he could do to solve his problem—he bought some decks and learned to mix. Since then, he has tried to make his mark on the local scene. Playing a blend of jazzy, deep house, disco and classics, Willie is a DJ looking to spread his love for house music. With events like the SNUG party in 2002 under his belt and a weekly called 2nd Shift, on the patio at Bell's Ecentric Cafe in 2003, Little Willie Love is definitely a man on a mission. Stay tuned. The future looks good.
