Biography of J-Slyde

These days, there aren't too many DJs who's passion for the music they play is made so visible when they speak of their craft. How refreshing it is then to see someone like J-Slyde putting in his all - and then some - into every aspect of his passion.

Brought up on music from an early age, the late 90's saw the young man embrace the sounds of electronica, and over the years such an embrace has conjured up quite a list of influences, including Hybrid, James Zabiela, Sasha, Luke Chable, Nubreed, Pendulum, Stanton Warriors, Massive attack and Lamb, just to name a few.

His musical tastes are quite broad, dabbling in all kinds of genre's and surrounding himself with as much melodies of supreme quality as possible. And whilst his core influences and interests lean more to a break beatish nature, when rummaging through J-Slyde's extensive record crate, you'll find everything from Progressive, Electro, House, Drum & Bass, Trip Hop, obviously Break beats, some oldschool Trance, a hint of the 80's, and even a bit of t.A.T.u if you look closely enough.

As his record collection - and razor-sharp ability to mix - grew over the years, so did the list of gigs, parties and main events J-Slyde had found himself playing at. His first gig was at the Melbourne Dance Club 'Hard Kandy', once an integral part of the city's Dance Community, and one which it was extremely difficult to get gigs at. He has also played all the Reason Parties, including the New Years Day Event, House Epic's 1 and 2 - (parties which were a fundraising event for the Lighthouse Foundation), he's also spun the wheels of steel down at Geddes Lane, The DJ Tracker Beach & BBQ Party, and their official 3rd Birthday Event, not to mention a special guest appearance at Parliament and a regular at Ghetto Fusion. J-Slyde has also supported national house music hero MR Timothy, and critically acclaimed International DJ Ignition Technician. On occasion, J also plays alongside fellow Melbournite DJ MJP, which, when the two are combined, perform under the charismatic alias of Phat Angle. His mixing abilities and tight-as-all-hell track selection has seen him grow into one of the cities most loved - and asked for - vinyl spinners.

After winning the 'Ghetto Fusion House Supremecy' DJing competition, in mid 2006, J-Slyde acquired a well sought-after residency at The Mint Bar in Brighton on Saturday Nights, playing an eclectic mash up of different electronica genre's.

As the future shines its light upon J's vinyl slip mats, the man plans on getting himself into the studio to focus on some production whilst hunting down another killer residency or two.

J has only began to show his full colors, so be sure to watch out as this young gun truly starts to shine and begins to take the melbourne dance scene, and the world by storm.
