Biography of Shaman
Afro-European, born in 1976, shaman got his first musical experience with the 80's breakbeat sounds, hardcore hiphop, J.Hendrix music and some dark new wave cuts as well. He crossed the electronic way around the early nineties when Brussels scene was blasted by the b.w.p. experiments. The unique Brussels based posse who brought, in Belgium, experimental radio broadcasting, parties and releases! In the meanwhile, the Chicago & Detroit scenes were exploding, loads of new independent record labels were created … sounds were new, mind was strong, scene was united. Shaman caught the smooth & powerful side of what music could bring (mainly Afro-US music : NYC/Miami/L.A./Detroit/Chicago). His first DJ appearance was not really later, actually in the mid 90's. It was at an illegal party in the 1030 downtown area of Brussels. He met Futuraz at this time with Underground Concept. Basically, formed with SFO & STEL-R (pop zero) as well. Loads of events, bar project & radio shows followed. Another major meeting for shaman was Twisted Hardware members, when he was invited to play for their first event called 'mechanical impulse' an haunted party including a fat labyrinth! Then Shaman created several projects & concepts as 'fucking aliens' (with stel-r), 'formatted industries' with the sick droids series (alongside alpha6 & ko-tek) and finally 313 ( www.313.be.tf ) & RETROACTIVE as party producer. Since a few years, Shaman is also appearing with shed-shadowboxing, when 808 old school electro meets raw hip hop roots! They played with well known producers such as dynamix ii, Airborn Audio, DJ overdose or mas 2008. The quest is the beat, the perfect beat to make progress your mind & body to another level. Mix & scratches, cuts, fx & beat surgery. Producing parties at recyclart, the freestyle duo is one of the most innovative back to back project Brussels can have! Unclassified DJ, shaman is a weird synthesis of energy & sick soulful tendencies.
