Biography of The Sound Republic
Chicago's John Mork & Frankie J (aka The Sound Republic) have blown on to the international
house music scene in the last 2 years with a slew of genre-pushing releases on such highly
respected labels as Guesthouse Music, Tango, Lowdown, Control Recordings, Jackin' Tracks,
Dae Recordings, Blackcherry, and Guess Who? (under the alias Francis Jilla & Johnny Drama).
Their signature chopped-up, quirky style of production has found its way in to the boxes of both
house music aficionados and top jocks alike. Receiving heavy support from such major players
in the underground house community as Swirl People's Raoul Belmans, Mark Farina, DJ Heather,
Diz, Jason Hodges, and DJ Mes to name a few, John and Frankie are not only proving to be
ground-breaking producers, but also world class DJs as well. Between hosting one of Chicago's
favorite underground house nights (Grizzled, with partner in crime Karl Almaria), and an
increasingly busy touring schedule, The Sound Republic is spreading the message of their fun,
uncompromisingly quirky, and totally funky take on house music.
2006 expects to be another great year for The Sound Republic. Setting aside a good portion of
the summer to focus on remix work and their debut full-length LP for San Francisco-based
Guesthouse Music, the project will allow the lads to collaborate with a wide variety of talented
musicians and to explore and push their sound to an even further, funkier plateau. In the end, it's
all about having fun and those four little letters: JACK!
