Biography of DJ Simon

Founder of the infamous 'Sleaze' events, host of 'Redux' on XM Radio, this no wave pioneer has been blurring the genre boundaries for nearly a decade, pushing and pioneering the electro house-technowave-nouveau revolution! A true taste-maker, Simon's always two steps ahead of the pack and he's certainly caught on fire! From major remixes and exclusive parties to warehouse raves and super clubs, Simon's unique sound and superior mixing have had an incredible impact on dance floors around the world, and have placed him firmly amongst the US nu-electro elite.

Simon has been train-spotted numerous times in publications such as URB, BPM, Mixer, Bigshot, K48, Music Monthly, Fashion Wire Daily, The Washington Post, The Freelance Star, The Village Voice, The Blade and the DC City Paper. He has inspired audiences @ many of the North and South America's most pristine venues and festivals. From MIXER's 'United Dj's Of America', Ultra and XJR WMC showcases, to multiple festivals at the Docks Entertainment Complex, System Soundbar and, Fez Batik in Toronto. From becoming a staple @ the OEMF/Electroclash Festivals, rocking out extended sets @ Crobar (including the grand opening), He became a regular guest at Larry Tee's famous Berliamamsburg parties that launched electroclash and Tommie Sunshine's Degeneration nights in NYC, to the super massive WHFStival and WHFS Nutcracker concerts @ RFK Stadium and MCI Center in Washington, from extended sets @ Lima's superclub Gotica to multiple Midwest massives, Simon talents and track selection behind the decks have landed him headliner and support gigs alongside some of the best Dj's in the industry such as Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Josh Wink, Bassbin Twins, Deep Dish, Miss Kittin, Boy George, Dj Hurricane (Beastie Boys), Tiesto, Sasha, Billy Nasty, Anthony Rother, Dj Hell, James Brown!, Doc Martin, Ken Ishi, Ellen Alien, Tommie Sunshine, Traxx, Scott Hardkiss, John Selway, Felix da Housecat, MR. C, Green Velvet and countless others!

Simon is also the host of 'Redux, the only nationally brodcasted show of its kind on XM radio Ch.80 'The Move' (nominated for a Dance Star award in 2004 and 2005) with resident advisors Tommie Sunshine, Larry Tee, John B and, Dj Unknown. Every week over 350,000 people tune in to hear their futuristic retro funk and interviews with some of the best talent in their industry. More recently Simon has re-directed all of his free time and energy into his studio work, with a few tracks already on labels like Mining Vinyl and The Syndicate circulating, the remix offers are starting to come in (2005 already holds Remix work for Larry Tee, Xylophone Jones, Jean-Philippe Aviance, Freezepop and more ). 2005 will see the release of Simon’s 1st fully licensed and distributed Mix CD, “Redux Vol.1”, the first in a series of 5, to be released on 'Night Machine Recordings'.

Simon developed a deep passion for music at a very early age. Actively collecting music since he was just a tot, he was inspired by early 80s punk and progressive rock. Once a well established DC skateboarder, at 14 he was picked up by 2 sponsors and was involved in putting on many events hosting some of the world's best teams (Birdhouse, Sonic, Foundation, Alien Workshop, Warped Tour etc.) He got bitten by the Techno bug at the ripe young age of 15 and picked up his first pair of decks. Two years later he quickly began to dominate his local club/rave scene and became a regular guest at the legendary Tracks and Edge nightclubs in Washington, as well as a fixture at many of the regions best underground events. Word spread quickly and he was soon on his way to cities like Toronto playing the massive 'State' and 'Winterglatic' events, Buffalo and Niagara Falls super massives, and legendary clubs like NYC's Tunnel.

In 2001 he decided it was time to take promotion into his own hands and created 'Sleaze', one of the worlds first club nights dedicated to the newly emerging electrohouse scene. Sleaze gathered a lot of press and was a huge success in exposing such great artists as Legowelt, My Robot Friend, John Selway, Ulysses, Valentio Kanzyani, Justin Robertson, Tommie Sunshine, Jambi, Dj Unknown, Spalding Rockwell, Paul Edge, DMX Krew, Traxx, Barry Weaver, Jean-Philippe Aviance, Larry Tee, Miss Kittin, Tiefschwarz, Richie Hawtin, Invasion Plannete Phonograms, and many more to the masses. The sounds caught on and Simon's Sleaze events were soon incorporated into a monthly residency at the world renowned event 'Buzz' (Voted #1 Mega Club and Best Club Promoter in USA by Urb Magazine for 8 years). Today Simon is still a staple @ Buzzlife's 'Cubik' Events. (Voted Best New Club Night 2004 By URB), and currently holding down fort with residencies @ Club Five, in Washington D.C.
