Biography of Jondi and Spesh
With the release of their 3rd artist album 'The Answer' on Spundae Records, Jondi & Spesh have established themselves not only as internationally renowned dance music producers, but as two of the most innovative electronic music artists from North America. The San Francisco Examiner described 'The Answer' as an 'impressive collection of hook-laden pop-prog rockers and exquisite, breaks-driven dreamscapes'. The SF Chronicle chimed in with '[an] almost lounge-sounding aural kaleidoscope ... groovy, danceable, and eminently listenable machine pop.' BPM Culture called 'The Answer' 'A bona fide eye/ear opener, and a top draw one at that.' Urb Magazine described it as 'minimal majesty.'
Well known in the U.S. since 1994, Jondi & Spesh burst onto the international scene in 1999, first with their massive west coast progressive anthem, �We Are Connected�, then shortly after with a full length album of the same name which received glowing reviews and became one of Muzik magazine�s top 40 albums of 2000 (ahead of Madonna). The Jondi & Spesh discography includes over forty singles and remixes on labels such as Bedrock, Renaissance, SOG, Mechanism, and their own label Lo�q Records.
Music videos from both 'The Answer' and 'We Are Connected' albums have aired extensively on MTV, and have received awards at film festivals around the world.
Their music has also been featured in feature films (Groove the Movie [Sony Pictures], On_Line [Indican]), in television shows (CSI on CBS, Jake 2.0 on the WB, Spark on PBS), in video games (Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2, Kaido Battle), and in TV commercials (Gap, Braun-Oral B, Sega, Eidos Entertainment, Covad).
In addition to their production work, Jondi & Spesh run the west coast's top progressive music label, Lo�q Records (www.looq.com) as well as hosting San Francisco's original and longest-running electronic music happy hour, Qo�l (www.qoolsf.com) which was rated by Citysearch.com as the best happy hour in the United States and has been featured in San Francisco magazine, Muzik, Urb, and the SF Weekly.
While Spesh has been DJing for fifteen years and is one of the most respected and loved DJ's in San Francisco, more recently Jondi & Spesh have been tag-team DJ'ing and have already headlined and received massive crowd reactions at clubs in the UK, Germany, Norway, and Holland, and well as in North America for their Spundae/Godskitchen 'The Answer' tour. Jondi & Spesh also host a monthly show on Proton Radio, and have been guests on Thump! radio, Aaron Axelson's show on Live 105, John Digweed's KISS FM show, as well as on college radio stations around the country.
