Biography of Treplec
The ramifications springing from tradition, sensibility and modernity with an eye on love! In the middle of the heartland of Saxony-Anhalt lies the provincial Dessau. From its Bauhaus-styled past and the later turning to ‘Hicksville’, which after ‘the Wall’ fostered a regression of sorts, through to the tireless operation of certain musical activists of which Mr. Nils Scheibe a.k.a Treplec belongs. Since around 1998 he has a vested interest in preserving the part of the region closest to the sweat-stroked skin of the disco and the solarium slash pierced, slam-techno.
The sequence of his music aficionado-ship started in a typical manner: the first orgasm was with the nightly radio program achieved through secretly shot stills of unapproachable schoolgirls in the grown-up playroom. What followed was terminal as every cent was slung into the vinyl; on top of that there is also the requirement of the proper tools needed for the sculpting. How exactly is a man supposed to get a handle on such costs? By the presenting of quality product to the public, that’s how. In order to do this in the independent manner, he founded, in 1998 with a couple of comrades, the Milnor-Club in a basement. Which not long after changed form to the Global Village in Elbufer. With a nose for booking and the sweat-inducing resident DJ rotation, Treplec brought the Milnor nights an extraordinary reputation as a cherished event locale. Showcasing unrelenting energy from the beginning, the patrons were sparked to brain activating quality as opposed to being hammered with the mallet. More public broadcasting, than, say VH1. For Treplec there was always the idea that minimal and musicality stands the test of time. Being an open style it’s generally more appreciated over time and simply timeless in a general sense as the pulse of the night. Spurred on by his own heroes and similar examples like what’s going on about 200km south in Jena, it was a natural progression for his musical heart to open a little wider. In 2003 the path presented itself as he founded his own label. Milnor Modern opened the eyes of the world to a place for his favourite music. Whether self-produced or in cooperation with producers such as Shatterhand Andre Koener, also finding its way was whatever happened to land in the letterbox. Basically whatever rocked in particular and gets the blood running at home or in the club was released. What’s not taken into account here like so many in this game; Quantity over Quality!
Instead targeted and tasteful selection closely linked with matchless artwork is the credo for a perpetual presence on the scene with a select quality. The cuts are painstakingly chosen and placed in DJ-sets, or sporadically dropped on laptop live sets from Treplec himself. With an eye on the crowd there is a distinctive flow of pearly sound. Stemming from deep minimal, prickly, freaky up to driven and at the same time modern and tradition cleverly interwoven. For people who like to dance and savour there stands Treplec’s musical forms whether spun records or pre-packaged is your thing; a must for the developing of unique synapses in the brain matter, bones and muscles.
The sails are set, the galley Milnor Modern with skipper Treplec in the global sunrise of the second half of this decade. Armed with a minimalist philosophy of fat-toned electronic music to skiff the waves and bring her home to the harbour. The land lovers wait with bouquets already flowing in the wind.
