The Story Thus Far

Ryan begun spinning January of 2002 while at college in Blacksburg, Virginia. His mixing skills and behind-the-decks persona have propelled him to gigs around Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee, and Texas. Ryan has been chosen on numerous occasions to open for such performers as Dave Ralph, Faust & Shortee, and Steve Porter. In the fall of 2004, Ryan moved halfway across the country and made Austin, Texas his new home. Shortly after his arrival in Austin, the music he played underwent a drastic transformation. Before the move, he had been laying waste to dancefloors with the destructive sounds of UK hard house, nu-NRG, and hard trance. However, the scene in Austin offered a wider exposure to techno than Ryan had experienced before. Entranced with the idea of using timbres and sounds, not beats per minute, to satiate his taste for hard sounds, Ryan begun moving his record collection and production style over to the realm of techno, which is where it remains today.
More About Me

By day, I am a technical writer. I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2003 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Professional Writing and Communications. I'm interested in media theory and digital culture. I play with my computer and Xbox a lot, read books, and stay up-to-date on the PC industry. Baseball is my favorite sport, although I've been known to watch some football now and then. I like all sorts of music, but mostly hard rock and punk such as Tool, Nirvana, The Used, Chevelle, and Catch 22. I also like to listen to groovier hip-hop like Blackalicious and The Roots. I'm always on the lookout for new music. But really, anything with a nice beat that really gets me moving. I thorougly enjoy debating and intelligent conversation on just about any topic. I write vinyl and event reviews for JIVE Magazine. I like movies such as O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Run Lola Run, Kill Bill, and Waking Life but also Dumb and Dumber, Fight Club, and The Usual Suspects. I have an open and questioning mind. And I love spinning records!
