Biography of Alenia

Ales Cacovic, aka Alenia, has been involed in music production since 1992. In his youth he became influenced by all kinds of electronic music. But amongst all the genres, it was mainly early warp and detroit techno of the 90's, which kept him inspired throughout later years. Soon he started to collaborate with his colleague Borut Bernik (now aka Torul) in 1992 and got closer to music production with his very first releases in 1994. Those mainly appeared on slovene labels such as Absense and Matrix Music, with various artist names: CLOX, CLOAK DEVICE, CHANNEL KLIRR,..

While gaining experience through studio production and live-acts, mostly in Slovene clubs, Ales also started to dj in 1994 as DJ AL. His dj genre, as well as a producing genre, moved closer to techno and became more and more flavoured by his most favored producers Mills and Clarke. The real era for Ales came when he decided to name all his own production with the pseudonim ALENIA. Since then his releases come out also on foreign labels.

The very first ep of ALENIA appeared on a German label FINE AUDIO RECORDINGS in the summer of 1999. Soon after followed 2 ep-s on its sublabel TOUCHTONE and a year after also an essential ep on swiss label SPEAKERATTACK, which was very well received.

Nevertheless, the primary breakthrough of ALENIA took place in the year 2001, when a series of release's came out on labels such as SPORE (UK), THULE (Island), SEISMIC (USA), TERMINAL M (Germany), ROTATION (UK), EUKATECH (UK), DEFINITION (Germany), SUPERBRA (Switzerland), KIAL (Slovenia), BOO (Australia) and FLOOR (UK).

Nowadays, ALENIA is recognized as a slovene techno producer and dj, more known abroad than in his home country Slovenia. Through all these years, his production developed to a strong fusion of techno, house and funk which gives a new flavour to the club music scene. That crossover is also expresed more and more with the every one of his new release.
