Biography of Reinier Bergsma

Born in 1975 in a town called Nunspeet, Holland. At the age of 5 moved to the city of Ermelo and lived there for the next 15 years, spending childhood and puberty and did a study in what they called 'electronics'. Lived in Arnhem for 2 years and managed to complete the school of Video & Photography. Now living in Utrecht since 1990 and finished school for good and working as a graphical designer and freelance photographer and DJ.

Studied from 1995 till 2000 at the Film & Photography Academy and improved skills on photography and filming, technically and theoretically. Spending 5 years on the study made him hooked on computers. With a friend he made a 30 minute movie for a study-assignment. The movie 'Moonchase' did not win anything yet, so far. Designing became a new challenge and the Mac makes the world a better place and made it possible to design and edit any kind of stuff. In combination with photography it was a digital revolution (1996) and with the new medium internet a new era begun.

Diplomated at the Digital Media Design school of Arts in Utrecht, Holland (HKU /Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht). Spend a 4 year study Art and Mediatechnolgy (Kunst en Mediatechnologie) in Hilversum, Holland. The study consisted out of concepting, designing, interfacing, typography, mediatechnology and a little arthistory;-)

Influenced by Scritti Politti, Duran Duran, INXS, Prince, SOS band, DAF, Front 242, Depeche Mode, The Art of Noise, Jean Michel Jarre, Nitzer Ebb etc etc etc....

Favorite radioshows of Reinier in the old days: For those who like to groove with host Robin Albers(Radio 3), Crapule DeLuxe (VPRO), Radio XTC(Illegal broadcasting by Hugo) and Dance Department(Radio 538) with host Wessel van Diepen. The shows took special attention and made him discover electronic music and gave that special warm feeling for housemusic. Proton Radio is the next generation radio on the net, check it out!!

Mixing breakbeat records (PFM, Knite Force, LTJ Bukem )and old skool acid, thats where it all started. From 1992-1999 mixed a lot with the turntables, made his own tapes, and made the collection of 'Foxmixes 1-10' for friends and anyone who was interested in housemusic.

Artists like Laurent Garnier, Danny Tenaglia, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Green Velvet, Future Sound of London, Deep Dish made him move in the direction where he is right now, artists with a big inspiration. The Art Of Noise was very NEW and used different and akward sounds and rhythms, sublimenal and without a doubt original and progressive.

The first gig ever with an audience was in club 'De Winkel van Sinkel' in Utrecht, Holland. Mixing it up for Park 3 in Harderwijk which is a subsidised cultural venue.

The focus on the future which is heading, busy with mixing and sending them to possible working-areas and doing more photography!
