Biography of DJ Godfather

The rise of DJ Godfather to his current level of success is no mystery to anyone who looks at the history of his career. His constant efforts to improve and build his work have paid off, and he has stepped to the forefront as a key player in his industry. By doing so, he has helped bring the genres of ghettotech and electro to their current prominence in American music culture. His abilities as both DJ and producer have worked hand-in-hand to make him an icon both behind-the-scenes and on the nightclub/party circuit.

Inspired by the work of Detroit's Juan Atkins and Miami's Luke, DJ Godfather has taken the world of ghettotech by storm. As owner of Twilight 76 and Databass Records, he has maintained a strong presence in the ghettotech/electro industry by using these record labels to promote the latest innovations from Detroit artists. He has over forty (40) personal releases under his belt, and has been featured on the compilations , From Beyond: Interdimensional Transmissions (*67), DJ Westbam (Sony and Lowspirit), and Comin' From Tha D' (Intuit-Solar). His Player Hater's CD was in rotation for over seventeen weeks on WJLB 97.9 in Detroit, and 20-30 of his tracks can be heard on the radio every week on various Detroit Mix Shows. These statistics testify to his abilities as a producer. He also started a distribution company with Electrofunk/Assault Rifle Records, founded by DJ Assault and Mr. De'. His remixes include tracks by Luke and DJ LAZ.

As time goes on, one can expect continued success for DJ Godfather as he expands his variety of projects and explores new musical territory. As he has demonstrated, he has the talent and ability to achieve his goals.

Comment: Live out of the D! :) I was upclose and personal for this, and this guy can beat juggle like nobody's business, let me tell you! A very entertaining set, however it was much better live than listening to the recording. Still well worth the download!

Comment: Well this was the first set I downloaded from this site and the quality was good. I thought a lot of scratches were a bit messy and unfortunalty I like booty more when it is mixxed in a bit slower speed and a bit more mixxed with some other electro influences. But overall a prety need set

Comment: If you like gabber, happy hardcore or really fast ghetto-tek you will love this. Godfather is a booty-tek legend.

For me personally: The BPM is way too fast (like a skipping CD) and it is not at all groovy. Listening to this set made me feel like I was 14 years old with a soother in my mouth, wearing huge fun fur pants and waving glowsticks around. I can appreciate Godfather for sure but not my cup of tea. :-o

Comment: I'll agree with some of the others that it gets a little fast in places, but I don't think it ever gets too frantic. I tend to listen to it in small installments rather than the whole thing at once.

Comment: Sorry, was too cheesy for my tastes, I just don't enjoy much US from the US breaks scene at the moment - it all sounds like stuff from the mid 90s compared to UK producers and DJs. Sorry but not my cup of tea today :)

Comment: It was aight, ya sure if you don't like the ghetto tech this might not be your thing. But if you do, and you know Godfather, this is exactly what you would expect to hear. He definitely brings it, and the pace was just fine in my opinion. Decent set.

Comment: Good Godfather set. If you're that guy that brings his own Belgian six-pack to a party where everybody is drinking Mickey's and grinding, then you are not the kind of guy who enjoys Godfather. This is beat juggling and quick mixing of str8 up party trax from the D. His scratching of drums and kicks got a little annoying in a couple of places, but he does so much behind the decks that you gotta forgive. He plays at so many raves and clubs where they got the turntables set up for mixing and a Pioneer 600, and he still rips it every time.

Comment: i thought this mix had some good energy...but it sounds like the same song playing over and over. He should mix it up more with like a mashup or two. A track listing would be nice too. I like ghetto house and dj gosfather and would love to hear this set played live, but after hearing it once it is not the king of mix you go back to again and again.
